Coldplay Songs That Helped You Get Through Something

Featured Replies

i understand what you say..

music means a lot of me, and maybe it could sound stupid, but listening to my favorite songs really make me feel better when im depressed, angry or sad.

i have so many songs that remind me particular moments of my life, some happy and some not. i can always find comfort in music, cause often i cant express what im feeling and music helps me a lot.

i know this is a Coldplay thread but there are in particular three U2 songs that i always listen to: Walk On, Stuck In A Moment (You Cant Get Out Of) and Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own.

maybe these songs can help someone else:nice:

the hardest part always helps me. Its kinda like the words are out there that you can't find yourself and it helps.

a couple years ago, for ski racing, I was supposed to go to the nationals. at the last minute, the quota for the number of girls going changed (in order to let this guy in because his father was "of importance" :inquisitive:.) I was really really upset because it is still affecting my racing career to date, and that song just helped me let go.

everything's not lost made me feel even better, and always makes me feel better.

yea :nice:

Postcards From Far Away helped me get through boredom.

Every single one of their songs has helped me through or around something.

But ones I could point out are "Lovers In Japan", "Don't Panic", "Shiver", "Warning Sign", "Amsterdam", "A Whisper", and "DAAHF".

Uhhh... Fix You, The Scientist, Warning Sign, Til Kingdom Come, A Message, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Swallowed In The Sea, See You Soon, Green Eyes.

Also, Lovers in Japan and the acoustic version. I have no idea why... tons of thier songs help me through life.

Music is a really really powerful thing. And it can keep a person sane...

and even if you're happy it can help make that happiness last.

The ahrdest part

Fix you

Amsterdan

The Scientist...

Two of the biggest songs that have helped me through something were Fix You and Amsterdam

Last year, me and my family lost my niece who was only a little under two months old. It was by far the HARDEST thing me and my family had ever gone through, I was pretty much a wreck, I listened to Fix You a lot and it really helped me get through it

Amsterdam really helped me get through a really dark period in my life a few years ago.

Honestly, a lot of their songs really get me through life.. Lost! does this for me, especially when i'm feeling frustrated, I put that song on and start to feel optimistic again. I honestly don't know what I would do without their music...

Fix You, In My Place and 42 all remind me of beloved people having died:

"42" when listening to the first line: Those who are dead are not dead - they're just living in my head".

"Fix You" makes me think of my late father when hearing the line 'when you lose something you can't replace'.

When hearing "In My Place", I recall the moment when I learned about my father's death, and I remember when I came to my parents' home and found my father still sitting in his armchair "in his place", with a quiet look upon his face!

"Viva la Vida" also reminds me of my late father and of the fact that life goes on.

I had to put my horse down last fall, because he was getting really old and he was in pain. but he was the best horse my family had ever had, and I went away on a ski trip, and knew that when I got back, he would probably be gone. I just had a feeling. The whole summer I felt terrible because I knew that it would happen. And I got home from my trip later that fall, he was gone. the thing is, the Scientist actually made me feel worse the whole time. through the whole summer, and after he died, and I can't listen to that song anymore.

and when I listened to that song, I imagined it was me talking to him, and like he was listening and knew he had to go, and I felt terrible. really awful. I'm crying right now actually.

all of the a rush of blood helped me through a couple of the toughest years of my life.middle school. sure it sounds like middle school is nothing to worry about. but i had the hardest time when my best friend moved away and i had no friends at all. i was in a depression, i really didnt care about school or anything at all. i was failing a lot of my classes.

well actually i did care about one thing. i wanted friends, i didnt want to be a loner like i was.so i would try to fit in by being someone i wasnt. i would do whatever others wanted. sometimes i was a really mean person to others(still hate myself for that) but i was just trying to fit in. anyways i really got didnt know what kind of person i was everything i "was"

was only what others were telling me to be like

then i discovered coldplay and i just loved their music soo much. their music got me focused on something else and music became my new focus.

when i would ask people if they liked coldplay, i found that they didnt know who they were but this made me feel happy i felt i was blessed to have found out about this band. this led me to start to like what i like and to stop trying to be something i wasnt.

i also met one of my best friends thanks to coldplay. she knew one song about coldplay at the time but she agreed with me in thinking coldplay were amazing.

a rush of blood to the head helped me through all that and its still my favorite album, i think cuz of the emotional connection i had with it.

Hi there,

I can quite follow you.

In recent years I had some hard times where music helped me through. I sort of doped myself with music - particularly "Viva la Vida" - a melody I fell in love with when hearing it for the first time. That song was played a lot on MTV, so I had MTV on when being at home waiting for MTV to play it again (it was played at least once every hour). On the radio that song was also played a lot, and so were other favourites of mine such as U2's "One" and Robbie Williams' "Angels".

I must say that during hard times I simply "dope" myself with U2 and Coldplay.

Like many others, for me it would have to be Fix You and Till Kingdom Come. And songs from u2, obviously. This year, I experienced the death of my grandfather and although I knew it was better than him suffering any longer, it was particularly hard. And when I think of him, combined with those songs, I just cry and cry, which is the best thing, to let things out. I think if it weren't for these songs, I would have a harder time dealing with this.

They really help because I can relate to them and that's what makes me love bands like Coldplay and U2. They write songs people relate to, they write songs that make people feel like they're not alone, that there's something for them to hang on to.

fix you, don't panic, the scientist, see you soon, green eyes, warning sign, arobtth, a message, what if, lovers in japan, loads of them ^^

they really help me through good and bad times.

Moses really makes me cheerful.

and fix you is just wonderful.

  • 1 month later...

Oh wow, this is so difficult. I say their music in general has helped and still helps me alot. Coldplay has kept me going through alot of hard times, especially the previous year. I am not sure I would have pulled through as well as I did without their music.
