April 24, 201115 yr I saw Seekae support Cloud Control last year, they were ok but I thought they seemed a bit out of place there. I should give their studio recordings a listen, though.
April 25, 201115 yr so guys ive been emailing pretty much every promoter here to see if i can open for (insert band here) when they come to wellington and cut copy just said this  "Hi Eddie, I'll pass this on to the band and let you know if we can make it happen."
April 25, 201115 yr Author ooooo thats very exciting!! the good thing with supporting cut copy is that they'll turn up half n hour late and piss everyone off so everyone will probably leave liking you guys better.
April 25, 201115 yr Also, we spoke to soon with the Middle East, as it is actually the feature album this week.
April 25, 201115 yr Author just listened to the album again. i still can't find myself giving it anymore than 7/10 which in my books is a good album that has its moments.
April 25, 201115 yr I think a seven is fair. I might give it a seven and a half perhaps. I'm am currently finding it hard to see a band that will top Tame Impala, Angus And Julia Stone or Cloud Control's releases from last year.
April 25, 201115 yr Author Sparkadia stands out for me now but it seems to have many of qualities of the temper trap debut. strong anthems but lacking in substance in places.
April 28, 201115 yr Author wasn't sure where else to post this so i'll jump dump this thought here. just been listening to triple j today and its just struck me that i'm finally being to enjoy the one of the perks of being a music fan. when i first got into music pretty much everything was new to me, meaning when i heard a new album by a band i had no idea of what had come before it. that was 2008 but now with the usual 3yrs cycle that most bands go through i'm finally being able to compare a bands previous work to their new stuff. just in the last hour or so they've played the grates, trial kennedy and glasvegas and with each act i've instantly thought back to their last album. its kinda fun. :)
April 29, 201115 yr I just got an email saying that, because I bought Splendour tickets last year, I can try for tickets on the pre-sale on Tuesday! :awesome:
April 29, 201115 yr Author damn you! man thats really going to decrease the number of tickets that are available for general release. hmmmm
May 1, 201115 yr damn you! man thats really going to decrease the number of tickets that are available for general release. hmmmm Ouch :P I'd offer to help you out but I already have 4 tickets to buy :\
May 1, 201115 yr Oh and there's only going to be a set amount released during the presale, it said so on the email. It's not like EVERYONE who went last year is going to be able to buy one just because they went last year.
May 2, 201115 yr Author this is tough for me to write but i think i might regardless things in my life have changed rather suddenly in the last couple of days and it has taken a heavy toll on me and my family. the unexpected nature of what has happened (i wish to keep the details to myself) has made it more difficult to handle. as a result i've decided to make some changes in my life one of them was going to be leaving this forum. but i thought about it for a while and it felt like an over reaction so i've decided to stay. but i have made up my mind on not going to see The Drums next week and not trying for tickets for splendour on thursday. at this stage being with my family and friends is more important. i think i like this place a bit too much to leave so suddenly. i think i like music too much to leave. but those other changes were tough to make but i know they're the right thing to do. i won't be talking on here much in the next few days as i go through the grieving process but i will be reading. so behave yourselves!
May 2, 201115 yr Oh Jamie, I don't even know where to start. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through, nor can I express (over this limited medium) how sorry I am to hear that you and your family are going through such a hard time. I know we're all but complete strangers but I really, truly, send all of my deepest condolences to yourself and your family. What you wrote has really hit me. Take as much time as you need, we'll still be here. And I'm very glad you've decided to stay, I don't think we could keep this thread alive without you! I think I speak for us all here in saying that we'll be thinking of you, and sincerely hope that you see the other end of this darker time very, very soon.

Thinking of you and your family Jamie. I wish you all the best.
May 9, 201115 yr Author thanks for the sentiments guys. you were right this place would die without me :P just listening to tonights LATW and its birds of tokyo from their one night stand series and this has got to be one of the worst LATW's i have ever heard. such a huge fall from their last latw recorded at the fly by nightclub in perth couple of years back.
May 9, 201115 yr Haha really? I missed it, in what way was it so bad?? In other aus-music news, I think it's really interesting that Splendour has STILL not sold out, why do we think that would be? The price of tickets? The lineup?
May 9, 201115 yr Author hey i said from the start kanye + coldplay would be a bad idea. so there! :P the birds of tokyo performance just felt so unnecessarily dramatic. they're meant to be a gritty rock act instead they come across as tame pop stars. and wow they were all over the place during that recording.
May 9, 201115 yr Haha, did you? Not hipster enough you think? :P Anyways, I know heaps of people who think the lineup is AMAZING. And a lot of my friends wouldn't go near Coldplay or Kanye if you paid them to  I don't know a lot of BoT older material, but I'm not sure I've ever heard a song of theirs that sounds like gritty rock. It always seems to sound pretty polished, even if it's not trying to, imo. Pop stars + overly dramatic = normal anyway.
May 9, 201115 yr I was planning on making a rare appearance in here and actually talk about Australian music. Then I saw Jamie's post, and I feel like I want to give him a hug. I'm so sorry you're having to go through so much. I wish there was something I could do, even though I know there isn't. Just know that eventually, everything will be OK. It won't feel like it for a while, but things always get better.
May 9, 201115 yr Oh hey Violet! You're always welcome in here :awesome: Aus music talk is still happening :D
May 9, 201115 yr Am I really? :cheesy: I feel special. :awesome: Anyway, I think I came in here once and asked a similar question, but I feel like I need a reminder. As an American who is fond of UK music, my Australian collection is, admittedly, lacking. What are some of the best Aussie albums from this year?
