can't help but feel that things are a little dull in aussie music at the moment. the whole foo fighters charity/promo tour was pretty cool, can't wait to see the footage on channel v. i think we will see them do a football stadium tour later in the year. i think they've basically decided from now on they'll do long shows at big venues which is fine by me.

the vivid festival didn't end up getting daft punk but they did secure bat for lashes. so i'll be hoping to catch her at the opera house this winter. but at the moment i'm just saving up to splurge on splendour sideshows. if i can make it to 6 in that short period i will be quite happy.

lets see what else..........the middle east album is on its way next friday. the jesus bday song is lame but Black Death 1349 is great and i haven't heard the one they released last weekend. it has the same release date as the architecture in helsinki newy so it will be interesting to see which one triple j chooses to feature. [reasonwhyidontlistentojjjmuchanymore] personally i think they should've told drapht to piss off and featured one of the two this week ahead of release and the other next week. [/reasonwhyidontlistentojjjmuchanymore]

and now for a fact nobody cares about. neil diamond sold only 5000 tickets to his show at the 40 000 seat sydney footy stadium. LOL. and why the fuck is chris brown allowed in the country with a criminal record?

and OMG!!! just found out that angus stone is dating isabel lucas! i would go there too :P but surely he can do better than some home and away has-been.

and new AC/DC live dvd is going to be some seriously epic shit. check this out.

thats about all i think.

I'm pretty psyched for the Middle East release. I actually listened to an AiH Moment Bends leak the other day and in all honesty, it sounded like crap and I'm not talking about the bit rate. They seemed to have changed so much from what they were like on their debut.

Also, does anyone here have the Big Scary - Four Seasons and would be able to upload it by any chance? I've been hearing good things about it.

Cut Copy. Wellington 25th May.

it's an r18 show so i'd need to go with my dad, and it's a little expensive.

I need a really good reason to go. Also an album or something to check out?

help me out here

Cut Copy album to check out? In Ghost Colours. and their latest is Zonoscope.

But I remember someone saying that they weren't very good at the festival they attended.

that was me. i was pissed off cos they left us waiting out in the cold for almost half n hour. but grace and alex both said they were great.

Mmm, no, I've actually been a little disappointed both times I've seen them. I don't know if Brisbane just doesn't like them but they just really didn't get the crowd going, at all. I probably wouldn't see them again unless they produced something really amazing, to be honest. Sorry Eddie :\

But yeah, things have been pretty dull lately haven't they?

Psyched for Middle East album, I didn't realise it was coming out so soon. I'd like to see them when they tour in June, I think.

Excited about Bat For Lashes coming out, my fingers are crossed she'll do a Brisbane show!

At the moment I'm trying to save up a bit though, I'm REALLY hoping I'll be able to do Splendour again this year, especially seeing as it's at Woodford again.

LOL at Angus & Isabel Lucas. At least she has style, soapstar though she may be :p

AC/DC not really my thing, that DVD does look pretty epic though.

Did everyone hear the cover of Solitude is Bliss done by Mark Ronson etc a couple of weeks ago? I thought it was fantastic.

I absolutely loved them! Their new stuff sounded great too. I'm a big fan so I might be biased but I am pretty sure I was sober enough to say they were quality at Laneway Melbourne!

Just bought tix to the Drums and Hungry kids of Hungary for end of April. Going to the Holidays again next Sat, tempted to buy Darwin Deez tix too. If Arctic Monkeys are playing at splendour, watch out Grace, we are going.

Haha, I'm NOT going to see The Drums, or HKoH, or Darwin Deez, or The Wombats just I can justify Splendour! You said it Alex, if Arctic Monkeys are playing I am NOT going to miss out!

I am going to see the Holidays in a fortnight though, which I am excited about :awesome:

i don't think i'll make the trip up. rather splurge on sideshows til my ears beg for mercy (oh yeah and my wallet) :P

just listened to the middle east EP. wow it is seriously stunning! if they somehow manage to make an album even half as good i will be impressed.

triple j's one night stand tomorrow. will anyone bother to listen?

It's expensive enough without having to make the trip up, I understand completely! Sideshows can be so much better than festival slots anyway.

Not going to make any efforts to listen to the one night stand. I'm over Art vs Science and was never really into BoT, but wouldn't mind hearing the Jezabels. I might tune if I happen to be in my room when it's on, lol.

Middle East EP is epic. I've got high expectations for the album, but like you said, even half as good will still be great!

the fact that they've enjoyed international recognition before they even release their debut is quite something. there are countless aussie bands out there who have been trying to crack the american markets for years and years producing album after album to no avail. then these hippies roll up and lap it up.

The Middle East EP is an instant classic. I'm considering buying it on vinyl, it's only $25 and it's something that I think would sound better on a 12". Anyone thinking of getting Tim and Jean's debut album?

^ I think I'll check it out, mainly because my friend and I had such a great time dancing to their stuff at Good Vibes. I'm not really expecting to be blown away but might be surprised!

I think there's a lesson to be learned here :hippy:

ummmm guys.........can i change my mind on something.....

you know how last year i said innerspeaker was the best aussie album of 2010 and stuff like that.....welll i kinda sorta wanna change my vote

foreign tapes by parades is sooooo much better its not funny! anyone with me?

Ahahaha! Really?

I'm yet to listen to it yet, actually... :embarrassed:

Parades is good, bloody good, but I still think Innerspeaker beats it. Still, I love Parades.

i think its just the musicianship on Foreign Tapes that blows me away. its so unbelievably brilliant but not self indulgent. probably the most unique album to come out last year also. my admiration of the year of music that was 2010 grows by the day. i can quite comfortably say my top 15 from 2010 would beat everything from 2009 and a great chunk of 2008.

well i decided to go the drums anyways. just for the hell of it i guess. getting middle east tickets soon also.

The Drums will be fun. I still kinda want to go see Wombats but I think I'll hold off - definitely getting Middle East tickets though!

And now I guess I'm going to HAVE to listen to Parades :P

Is it bad that I purchased the parades album months ago and haven't listened to it yet? Maybe I should... Hmm....

  • Author

i listened to it a good dozen times over a couple of months before it finally clicked! i think it has more to do with the fact that its really "my type of music" than anything else. i love a good guitar/drum combo.

  • Author

his Parades project is far far superior to his solo work. if he was smart he would try and get Parades international. i can really see the folks at P4K and NPR drooling all over Foreign Tapes.
