Did you end up getting the Cloud Control album Alex? What did you think?

I've only been able to listen to it once so far but I thought it was very good, particularly the first half.

Yeah I got it. My fave is Track #9, but its a decent album. Sitting at a 6.5 at the moment.

^I listened to it once yesterday. Not bad. Anyone else hear heard the Brisbane band, Dead Letter Circus album? It didnt really catch onto me on first listen, sounded too much like evanescence with a male singer.

Dead Letter Circus - This Is The Warning

obviously the tracks they've taken from their excellent EP's jump out at me as does their new single Big and the opener Here We Divide. the rest of it isnt anything spectacular but i see some longevity in this band. will give this album another week to grow on me property before i make a final decision

 

Tame Impala - Innerspeaker

been streaming this all weekend over myspace and holy shit it is frekn amazing. the sounds these guys have created are nothing short of stunning. it is solid basically all the way through but the only let downs at the moment i would say would be the lack of impressive musicianship and some rather questionable lyrics. otherwise i cannot get enough of it.

Im really looking forward to the Tame Impala album. Im glad thats its going to be worth the hype, based on all the reviews ive read.

a very different sounding cat empire. personally i love it.

I find it a little sombre compared to their past stuff. A bit deeper perhaps?

yeah it is for sure. good to hear band changing their sound but still sounding great.

Backtracking slightly to the Cat Empire, I personally love the new single, can't wait to hear more!

Florence and the machine have sold out 3 nights at the enmore this morning. A far cry from the single night she did at the metro 5 months ago.

 

Only 1 jb hifi store in Sydney put the new tame impala on sale today, it's release date. Very very disappointed and kinda pissed off

1pm. Went to main bourke st store. None.

1:30pm. went to elizabeth st store, still in CBD. None. They are really helpful though and tell me all the other stores that have it. Eventually I travel out to South Wharf and get it there. Thank god. Havent listened to it yet, I bought the new teenage fanclub album too and thats been in my player :P

I went to get Cloud Control's album last Friday and had no problems, they were more than happy to go out the back and get me a copy...

I'm trying to get a job at a JB Hifi :P

i went back just before they closed and i found a few copies. havent put the album in yet but ive been streaming it all week and its up there alongside eddy current and angus+julia for aussie album of the year.

 

and i could never work in JB. i dunno about brisbane and melbourne but in their sydney stores they have 5 different songs playing at the same time at full volume and im sure my music ego will get in the way and ill end up s******ing (supposed to say snig-gering) at everyone who buys a shit album.

Haha yeah I'm pretty sure they're all pretty much the same... luckily I'm able to push my ego aside if I need to though :P Fingers crossed that I get it, and then I'll be able to tell you allll about it :P

i did like the album but i see it as a decent collection of songs with the odd great track. much like grand national but not as great. whereas angus+julia and tame impala and eddy current have all made great album albums.

Is Temper Trap still $21 because I'm not sure if I remember correctly but maybe it was advertised for $15? Dunno

I guess your right. Im in love with Down The Way at the moment anyway. I need to listen to Innerspeaker a few times more before I can decide.

recorded the powderfinger live at the wireless from the sydney BDO last night. a performance i will never forget. you guys will have to wait until mid-june for me to upload this recording. too much of a distraction to do right now.

i have a massive plan to upload all of my bootlegs over my winter break. i've compiled a good 150 so far and im sure there's another 50 or so hanging around on some long lost hard drive. ive been planning to do this for a very long but keep putting it off.
