Powderfinger have announced they will hit the road one last time - before disbanding.

In a press conference held at iconic Sydney venue the Annandale, they announced details of the Sunsets tour, which will include shows in 21 different cities across every state and territory and be stretched over a seven week period from early September through to late October.

In a statement, the band said: "The 'Sunsets' tour will be Powderfinger's last ever run of shows. We have decided, after much deliberation and agonising, that after this final tour we will call it a day as a recording and touring band. With the completion of our last album, Golden Rule, we feel that we have said all that we want to say as a musical group. We firmly believe that it is our most complete and satisfying album and can't think of a better way to farewell our fans than with music that we all believe in and also with, hopefully, our best tour to date."

They'll be joined on the tour by Jet and The Vines. Tickets go on sale 9.00am, Friday, 30 April, 2010. See below for more info, or check out Powderfinger's official website.

im hanging out for the ticket prices. im not the biggest powderfinger fan, so im really hoping to catch this farewell tour for less than $80.

Sad news, but I suppose they've had a good run.

I'll definitely be at the Brisbane show.

I think you'd be lucky for that to happen, especially seeing as this will be their last tour ever so tickets will be in high demand.

Haha totally forgot about them. Hope they 2nd show it. POWDERFINGER! NO! SO GOING

Anyone heard the new Basement Birds song (here)? I quite like it...

Ha and I have to be working that day all day. SHIT

Ah that sucks!

I'm going to go get stuff signed by the Butterfly Effect and Yves Klein Blue purely for the sake of it, cos I'll be in the city already :P

As long as queues aren't too long, that is...

I'll be out and about that day, but I've got no money. THE SHAME!

I'm impressed by Wolfmother and the Temper Trap at the moment, so I think I might check out further Australian bands soon. I'll probably use the list from page one for this.

Probably their best yet. I counted 32.

Cannot WAIT for Foals, Two Door Cinema Club, Passion Pit, Miike Snow, Surfer Blood, The Drums, and The Joy Formidable Sideshows

Farken that is going to cost me SOOOO much

i was planning only 2 sideshows. but i think i might end up at 5 haha

It'll be good. I need some more live gigs. All I have between now and then is 2 VW and 1 Julian Casablancas shows

I counted 34... it's a pity none of them want to do sideshows in Brisbane... if I miss out on Splendour tickets then I'll miss out on seeing anyone! :(

In better news... Kasabian are coming back out to Aus!!
