Nice! Why not? :P

I'm sure there are tons of knowledgeable people who can help you out here (I am not one of them), but another source I use a lot when deciding which electronics to buy is cnet

Hi!

You want a compact camera?

Have a look at this:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/q209grouplongzoom/

On the top of the page it says "Introduction", the drop down menu or the arrows lead you to the other parts of the comparison.

I bought the Canon Powershot SX200 IS and I'm really happy with it!

When you're filming you only have the digital zoom. But you can still zoom in first before pressing record... so I don't see it as a big diadvantage.

The Panasonic allows you to use the optical zoom while filming but you only have the automatic mode to take pics whereas the Canon gives you the possibility to control stuff manually...

Before I write more, just read the test, it's good :D

As for me, I've got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 which is quite good. It's sensitive while taking picture and you must not move at all. The zoom is great. I took very close picture even though I was seating far away at concerts for instance.

Seating faaaar awaaaay :

i LOVE the look of that. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I'm about a month away from getting a new one (the one i have now is under a year old, cost over $300, and completely sucks.....(nikon coolpix). I appreciate the help guys :)

legal princess - that's a great pic! how far were you away for them to come out that great? if i knew how to post pics in these posts I'd show how mine come out so crappy, but I'm predictably awful at all of these camera/comp things! hahah

You're welcome!!

There was a similar thread - have a look here: click.

Before I bought my camera I looked at the dpreview site, then went to several shops and asked loads of questions and tried around with the exhibits before I actually bought it.

Good luck finding a good one this time! :nice:

  • 1 month later...
12.1 megapixels :cheesy:

6x Optical Zoom is good as well ;)
