I can't remember if I've proposed doing this in the past or not, but this year we're doing it!

 

So basically it will be a series of polls where we vote for music awards for the year. So this covers a little more than just album of the year type of thing. Some songs and EPs that won't get the opportunity to shine in the albums of the year thread may get a shot here.

 

The way it will work.

 

1. We'll come up with the award categories.

2. We'll open up the polls for nominations.

3. The top nominations in each category will then be voted for individually.

4. We'll have an awards presentation. Voting will be PM based to keep an element of surprise as well as to prevent ballot stuffing.

 

My thoughts:

We won't do album of the year since this will be covered but maybe:

Song of the Year

EP of the Year

Music Video of the Year

Best debut album of Year

Overrated album of the Year

Underrated album of the Year

Best album artwork

Album of the Year (Australia)

Album of the Year (Canada)

Album of the Year (United States)

Album of the Year (UK)

Album of the Year (Rest of Europe)

Album of the Year (Rest of World)

Yeah, well for 2009 I don't think that either band would really win in any category. The only thing Radiohead did was release These Are My Twisted Words....which was a good song, but most likely not song of the year material on this forum.

Coldplay would only really be eligible for music video of the year.

So I think for this year at least we should be safe from Coldplay/Radiohead dominance.

It doesn't really matter. Its probably just as easy to use this account. I'll probably be making 4 or 5 threads tops after this one. Thanks for the offer though.

I think if I were to add this, I'd also have to do best guitar player, best drummer, best bass player, etc. etc. But maybe musician of the year?
