YES, DRUMS THREAD! WOOO!

Let's go surfing is my fave track of 2010.

*puts on uptight music nerd face*

lets go surfing is from mid-2009 so :smug:

but nah great song. heard 6 tracks from the new album so far and yet to find one i dont love. will stay away from any leaks or listening to the full record until after my exams, want to give it my full attention.

But Vampire Weekend are indie crap

:stunned:

So fas it hasn't leaked yet, right? Fat chance it's going to before the release date.

Ah well.. :P

Hahaha :P

I read this thread from the start so I was waiting for someone to say that :P

Anyway, I think I'll be able to use the album release as an excuse for a study break...

AHHH finally people are writing is this thread! :D It's about time !

They opened for Florence+The Machine two weeks ago in London. they were good but totally high and/or drunk on stage....

The main reason I'm gonna see them this week is because of the singer's dance moves. :wacky:

..and perhaps the music as well. :shame:

Haha yeah the singer's moves (/faces) are pretty unique :o :laugh4:!

That's probably what gave you this impression Aurélie! I found it sooo weird at first! It has grown on me now and I find it rather funny and special but it still freaks me out sometimes !

The same way he's voice is so not the same live (much deeper). It kinda bothered me at first but now I like it!

basically everytime i hear about of their songs for the first time i think ahh its just the same old indie crap[/size] but then i listen again and realise theres so much more to it. the last band to have that impact on me would have to be vampire weekend.

+ 1000 !

What also amazes me is how when you hear their song it always makes you in a good mood, you feel like it's summer and holidays but when you listen to the lyrics, they can be really sad sometimes. The song Best Friend is the perfect example of this. I love this paradox about them.

The worst was not him but the guitarist who was clearly stoned! The singer remind me of Alex Kapranos (same dress code: old fashion 60's retro look) but less classy.

Awww thank you :awesome:! It works!

Where did it leak? It's not on this twitter page you showed me a while ago you know..

^ Thanks a lot Laura ! :D

I'm seriously digging this album ! It's amazing how I love every single song of them :awesome:

So is this album worth checking out? Convince me!

It's very summery. Which is perfect for June. I listened to the album when I cycled to my fathers house today and I rather like it. Stand out tracks so far: Best Friend, Let's Go Surfing and Forever and Ever Amen, but these are also the songs I'm most familiar with. I'll definitely spend some time listening to this. :nice:

They played in my hometown yesterday, so I went to see them. The performance was certainly very entertaining to watch. The singer and one of the guitarists were very, very ADD and their dance moves were pretty.. epic. :D I couldn't really judge their musical performance though because the music was so fucking loud (it literally hurt my ears) and apparently the singer prefers to shout into the microphone instead of singing. Normally I never have any problems with loud music, but I'm considering getting earplugs now. :freak:

Just click the link to the stream I posted and go listen. :P

^Will do. Thanks.

And YES it is very important to wear earplugs if you go to lots of shows. I always bring them. Usually I don't wear them for the headliners unless they are very loud (like Japandroids).

Argh that's too bad really. Way to ruin a show ! I've never worn earplugs for a concert. Maybe I should when it's too loud but I dunno I feel like I couldn't fully enjoy the music with earplugs. :\

They were "ADD"? You meant "odd" didn't you? If so, it doesn't surprise me. First time I saw them performing for some french tv show, I was like :wtf:!

Anyway, I still think that they seem to be a good band to see live (based on what I saw on youtube/TV at least) and that their EP/album are brilliant and soooo worth listening! They really have something special, there's something to their music that I feel like I've never heard before, which is a pretty rare feeling !

No, I ment ADHD*, because the singer and guitarist were incredibly hyperactive.

* I don't mean to say either have ADHD, but they behaved like complete lunatics.

Ah ok! Well, maybe they were. It wouldn't surprise me that much !

I listened to the album and it's kinda meh, maybe it'll have to grow on me.

yeah they were talking about the drums last night on the radio and their on stage antics. they were saying it was going to split the audience in half, half will hate it the other half will be blown away. how did you find it?

Can't say I was blown away, but I loved the way they carried themselves on stage. Very lively and perhaps more importantly also very funny. I think it really helps to get people dancing if the band behaves a bit crazy. :D

PARTEH! :awesome:

*downloads album from Amazon for £1.99*

;)

I love cheap album Monday (It was £3.99, but I had a £2 promotional credit knocked off the price)
