November 28, 200916 yr I recently found out about these guys and I really think they sound good, they only have an EP out now, but everyone has been raving about them. They have a bit of a Surfer feel to them and they remind me of a more indie Beach Boys. Anyway this song is addicting, the guitar <3 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OsTUnkqSi4]YouTube- The Drums - "Let's Go Surfing" Music Video[/ame]
November 28, 200916 yr An indie Beach Boys, that's actually a perfect description (especially 1:50-2:10). I love the video it's hilarious.
November 28, 200916 yr these guys played their first every gig in april. by august they were known all over the indie music world. some bands toil away for years and years before they get any sort of recognition. these guys got it in a matter of weeks. i think the fact they're from Brooklyn has alot to do with it. nonetheless. absolutely loving these guys. look forward to a LP.

Yeah, I'm glad you showed me them! Do you know when the LP will be out?
November 29, 200916 yr at the moment its nothing more than the Summertime EP, remix EP and their newest single I Felt Stupid came out this week. i've been hearing some rumours of a debut LP next year. but i think they need to mature a bit more before throwing out a full length. http://www.moshimoshimusic.com/artists/the-drums - the drums summed up on one page.
November 29, 200916 yr it was a good song... definitely reminded me of Beach Boys in some sense with the song theme.
April 18, 201016 yr I was about to create a thread for them when I found this :D ! This IS the sound of summer ! I listened to their EP all winter and it really brightened my days ! I can't wait for the album. I like their new single "Best Friend", have you guys listen to it? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUubQj7g56E]YouTube- The Drums - Best Friend[/ame] At first my favourite song of them was Let's go surfing but now I think it's Submarine.
April 18, 201016 yr Usually, I don't listen to new bands I've never heard of. But when I saw the Beach Boys comparison, I decided to listen. I like it, but I don't see that much of a connection to the Beach Boys. Maybe I'll listen to it later to see if I pick up on something.
April 18, 201016 yr I like it, but I don't see that much of a connection to the Beach Boys. I don't really see it either. Both are really fresh and happy but other than that...
April 19, 201016 yr The singer's dance moves are hilarious. Very Ian Curtis. :wacky: Yeah indeed ! :laugh3:
April 21, 201016 yr Today on Pitchfork : Artist: The Drums Album: The Drums Release Date: June 7 Label: Moshi Moshi/Island Tracklist: 01 Best Friend 02 Me and the Moon 03 Let's Go Surfing 04 Book of Stories 05 Skippin' Town 06 Forever and Ever Amen 07 Down By the Water 08 It Will All End in Tears 09 We Tried 10 I Need Fun in My Life 11 I'll Never Drop My Sword 12 The Future :wacky: I hope these tracks are as good as the ones on the EP because some of my favourite tracks didn't make it to the LP (Submarine, Make you Mine or Don't Be A Jerk Jonny). I guess we'll wait and see... :)
April 21, 201016 yr Yay, that's one day after I'm gonna see them. :nice: Stop reminding me of that ! :bigcry: No. *regains self-control* I'm not like that, I'm happy for you :P :D
April 21, 201016 yr (And the best thing is, they're playing 10 minutes from my home.) But really, I'm looking forward to a full album. High expectations. :D
June 1, 201016 yr Bump. The Drums did a live session for The Sun, they performed Let's Go Surfing and For Ever And Ever Amen, but more importantly a new (well, at least, I had never heard it before) song called Book Of Stories and did a brilliant cover of Where Did Our Love Go by The Supremes ! :awesome: I just uploaded those two on youtube : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5KUO5HoEX0]YouTube- The Drums - Book Of Stories (Biz Session)[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxwCvgXzTLU]YouTube- The Drums - Where Did Our Love Go (The Supremes' cover)[/ame] I'm so damn excited for the upcoming album ! One week left to wait  !
June 2, 201016 yr They opened for Florence+The Machine two weeks ago in London. they were good but totally high and/or drunk on stage....
June 2, 201016 yr i love it how their music on the surface seems so very simplistic and ordinary but when you listen carefully theres something very unique and telling about it. basically everytime i hear about of their songs for the first time i think ahh its just the same old indie crap but then i listen again and realise theres so much more to it. the last band to have that impact on me would have to be vampire weekend.
June 2, 201016 yr The main reason I'm gonna see them this week is because of the singer's dance moves. :wacky: ..and perhaps the music as well. :shame:
