Why Do YOU Listen To Coldplay?

Featured Replies

It may sound like a dumb question, but I want to be a musician when I grow up!

So I wanted to see why you like them so that is the kind of music and message I can make! :D

So what are your reasons because I'm sure we all have different reasons?

Thank You!!! :D

I suppose it's a mixture of the lyrics and Chris's voice

And I don't know why, but almost every Coldplay song I can relate to

well, basically cause there's something in their songs that always makes me feel better.

i love the music but in particular the lyrics, there're some senteces that have become very important for me:heart:

i dont know if this can help you:P

Their music touches my soul - sounds freaky new-agey, I know...but I honestly can say I can lose myself in their lyrics and music. Not all songs, all the time, of course, but it depends on my mood and what I need from them at any particular time.

Chris' beautiful, versatile voice, along with the melodies and the musicality of the songs, I can hear something new every time I listen. Some songs have a tendency to calm me down, like Warning Sign. Also love Chris' piano, other bands with piano just don't cut it for me.

Ok so it's the lyrics, the alternative-ness, and the piano?

(I can't match Chris's voice, so that doesn't help)

It's hard to describe why I love Coldplay, I mean, their music have been with me through thick and thin for a long time. I can really relate to their lyrics, and as lfdianne said, it touches my soul!

But it's like that with almost all the music I listen too, it needs to touch me in some way. Either musically or lyrically :nice:

Haha, that probably didn't help at all. :P

Personally I think most of the lyrics are amazing and paired with Chris's voice the songs draw me in. Like others have said, sometimes the lyrics seem complex but when you look at them you can relate to a lot of them.

Usually no matter what mood I'm in I'll find something from Coldplay that I'll want to listen to.

I don't think you can take why people listen to a band and use what people say to mould yourself, it's the individual qualities of a band or singer that matter to the people who listen to it...I'm not sure that made sense :S lol

It did!!! :D

I understand! :D

I just want to know what others think and feel too!

their music moves people. It feels real, like the band, it's them.

and they try really hard ;)

Oh good, I'm glad it made sense!

I don't think what I said helped any though! :laugh3::laugh3:

Because their music makes me feel like I'm really close to them, like I really know them all. And because the way they mix instruments like that and come out with new melodies is just :awesome:

because theyre the best,by far..

Because their songs make me feel alive and myself. No other band truly does that, except maybe Queen or the Beatles. But Coldplay just have that love of life.

They make you look at life in someone else point of view.

One question - so many answers to it...

At first because I adore almost all of their songs.

Very important point for me:

Because they create moods and reinforce atmospheres with their music.

Because their music and the band is unique.

Because their music always brings light into my life.

Because I love listening to Chris Martin's voice, Johnny Buckland's guitar playing, Guy Berryman's bass playing and Will Champion's drumming - all the four of them are so talented musicians.

Because they know how to write amazing music and how to apply their instruments.

Because their lyrics are profound but not that much to get lost in them.

Because I can relate to their lyrics.

Because their music is so multifaceted even so they do not lose their characteristic style.

Because their music can make me thoughtful of so many things in life.

Because their music can change my view on life (like Stargirl said before but she's so right with it)

Because they are an amazing live-band.

Or just because their music touches my heart.

Use to, it was because of Viva la Vida. Its popularity pulled me in, honestly. But now, I respect that Coldplay plays real music. It isn't necessarily considered "popular" anymore, as I don't care, but, these guys know what to do when writing music.

...and that is why I listen to the one of the greatest bands in history - Coldplay.

Because... I feel good when I listen to them, it just feels right. They make me grow up. I would like to say that it reflects my personality.

So if I had an advice to give you, it would be : don't change anything, do music for yourself, you will always find people with your kind of personality who will love your music. Don't copy Coldplay, do your music, and become better than them. Good luck ! :P

i started listening to them because i liked his melody, then i paid attention to their lyrics. its like this style of music makes me relax, and get better when im not so good. most of the lyrics has a message that combine with some moments of my life, so i can identify with them. i like chris´ voice too, its sweet and strong at the same time.

then, beyond music, i love guy!

Because... I feel good when I listen to them, it just feels right. They make me grow up. I would like to say that it reflects my personality.

that´s a good advise too

Wow. I’m sorry but my answer is going to have to be really long.

I grew up listening to Coldplay, though I didn't know it. Every time one of their songs came on the radio I fell in love with it all over again, but I really didn't bother to check and see who the band was. Last year I bought my copy of Viva la Vida. Something about the name intrigued me. I'd heard of Coldplay, but I wasn't really sure what they sang. So I listened to the album for the first time. By the time ‘Lost!’ came on, I was already doing my best to sing along. I loved the album so much that I listened to it again. So I decided I should find out what else they sing. I went out and got the other three albums and discovered that they sang the songs that I had loved growing up. I just fell in love with song after song… Chris’ voice, the piano, guitars, bass… just everything, but especially the lyrics. To me, nobody writes quite like Chris Martin. The lyrics inspire me, and touch me, and make me feel so alive and just happy. They became my favourite band, and I know that there will be no going back from that. I am a bit of a musician, as well though I don’t really think I’m that good. Coldplay just makes me want to try harder, though. They make me want to write that song and try to make it in the music industry because they help me to believe in myself as a musician. Their music has lifted me out of a rut I didn’t really know I was stuck in. It has helped me get closer to people I love who were becoming distant. It changed me for the better.
