he wrote several articles and 2 novels (Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo) that somehow sparked the revolution of the 1890s against the Spanish Colonial Rule. :)

Yeah, but it's like... one or 2 hours a week for each!

Oh, I don't think you can compare, so yours are probably not easier :nice:

It's just that I'm not a "literary person", I couldn't learn all this

I'm not a literary person either, I'm a math person. :disappointed:

:stunned:

What the..?

so many varied subjects,

Here when you go to college, you do one course

and all the classes are closely related to the course.

i'm sure most courses are like that anyways.

Well, most universities here require all students to take history/english/math/science/music/art etc. during their freshmen year, to make us more "well rounded" or something.

Logics, Data Analysis, evolution of latin american society, health sociology, rational sociology :freak:

That would be really good to have,

but then again sounds like a lot of work.

Here, it's more like pick your main career you want

and then work towards that, from the age of about 17.

Do high school classes count? :P

You're only taking two real classes there.

Yes I think it's jazz/ballet with a bit of other stuff. I have a feeling every single class I will have Saviours of Jazz Ballet stuck in my head.

I wish I didn't take it, I can't dance and we have to do self choreography and a bunch of presentations

I was gonna take foods instead, why didn't I?

edit: I know! I can't wait until this semester ends, this one is killing me :P

How do American systems work? In the UK we have just one subject, with modules based around that subject. For example coolsiggys subjects of calculus with music history and american history just make no sense to me. Are there restrictions as to what you can choose or is it a free for all?

The critical stages of education here:

High School:

GCSE (Age 14-16) 10 subjects grading C-A*

A-Levels: (Age 16-18) 3-4 subjects grading D-A

University: One main subject min. 3 years, choice of 4 modules over 2 semesters (2 each semester) and for each module a choice of 3-6 other modules.

Thats usually the case. I don't see the point of being able to choose from such a wide variety of subjects when your 18 years old, surely you should be narrowing the possibilities a bit?

I'm guessing you missed this post, O'Really.

We're required to take these courses. :\
