Great choice!! I love Stereophonics and Dakota is always good to rock out to :D

Thanks! :nice:

Oh yes I love the tune that goes throught the whole song

Track 1: I like this, the start is kind of sudden but it's really soothing. It really reminds me of other stuff that I've heard but I can't really put it in place. As the song progresses though it gets a bit much of the bleeps in the chorus/verse. But in general it's a good track to start off with.

Track 2: The song starts up with weeping strings and a regular drum beat. I can't really say if it is a male or a female voice but I really like this song. The strings comes in again as the chorus starts and I really like the sound of it. Now I'm starting to think it's two voices, it makes cringe a little bit. I like the acoustic bass that goes through the song. The song finish off with a double tracked only vocal. And it's sounds really good.

Track 3: The track starts off with a acoustic guitar and vocal comes in I can't tell if it's a male or a female singer again. The chorus comes in pretty early but it's fantastic. Too bad the chorus kind of ends in a disappointing way. The chorus goes 'Set the dark on Fire' which I guess is the title of the song. The verse goes into the chorus pretty quickly which makes it hard to reach to a climax of the song. The song ends with the same acoustic guitar as it starts with.

Track 4: This track starts with a fast piano riff and later a guitar comes in. Unfortunately, when the vocals comes in I immediately lose interest. There just is something with these kind of voices that makes me uncomfortable.

Track 5: This song is also kind of obsolete if you compare to the first 3 tracks, but it's definitely has something that makes me want to keep listening to it. I like the guitar which has a rougher noise. It kind of reminds me of Red Hot Chilipeppers which aren't really my type of band but it still is an ok track.

Track 6: The track starts with begins with a very reverbed guitar, this song also goes into chorus pretty quickly and goes 'You color my black and white days' which is kind cheesy. Otherwise the song doesn't really have something noticeable in the song except for the reverbed guitar. Almost the whole song was the chorus and that was one of the things that made it kind of boring.

Track 7: I heard immediately that it was Empire of The Sun, and I actually like this song. The song has a lot of space and the electronic noises fits his voice good. I tried the album though and didn't like it too much.

Track 8: The song begins with a nice beat and as soon as the vocal I Immediately hear that it is Florence and The Machine. And I like it. I really like it. Her voice haven't really appealed me in the songs that I've heard but this one actually fits her perfectly. I really like things that happens in the end, and before the last chorus begins the nice beat that was playing in the beginning. The song ended kind of abrupt but I really liked for all the stuff happening in it.

Track 9: The song begins with squiggly noises and then goes into a regular guitar and drum + keyboard sound. The song is very optimistic but it feels like it has an ironic happiness into it. I just imagine a guy jumping around singing with a fake smile on his face. But it's pretty good musically and the organ that goes through the verse I like. In the end he makes weird noises and it with him saying 'BA' very abruptly. This song was good musically but lyrically it disappointed a little.

Track 10: The song starts off with an 'under water' effect but it soon goes into a real beat. The song is pretty dreamy and very spacey. But it still has something that sounds like African beats. The chorus goes something like 'Today's the day tonight's the night'. The male voice sounds a little British and I really enjoy it. I like the times he goes into falsetto and it really bring things to the song.

Track 11: This song starts off with a very heavy guitar. As fast i hear the voice I get that feeling again, it makes me uncomfortable. Unfortunately this isn't really my glass of juice.

Track 12: It starts really up tempo, and as the vocals comes in I kind of like it. The song goes through in a pretty good way. Too much things isn't happening but it's pretty good in general. I like the guitar riff that comes in before the second verse. It reminded me of Arctic Monkeys but also a lot of other things. Anywho, I enjoyed it fairly well!

Track 13: I'm really sorry it must be the same band or something, but I'm really having a hard time judging this song fair. It just doesn't appeal to me. The only thing that makes me kind of interested is his Scottish accent, but it kind of makes me laugh too :lipsrsealed2:

Track 14: This is David Grohl singing was my first thougt, this song as pretty neutral. But since I haven't really liked Foo Fighters it is pretty good.

Summary: The mixtape started off really good but kind of lost all of it's charm somewhere in the middle. But it was really nice listening to unexplored genres :nice:

Hope I wasn't too honest :surprised:

Ok you've changed your username slightly and I didn't realise this was mine :embarrassed::laugh3:

So here's the tracklist

Delphic - This Momentary

Turin Brakes - Dark On Fire

Doves - Sky Start's Falling

Gary Go - Black And White Days

Oh and don't laugh at Scottish accents!! :laugh3::lol::P

My person hasn't posted their review yet :bigcry:

Well, here is mine! (Hope you can stand my terrible English. But hey, I'm Swedish!)

Oh and track #6 didn't work, and there is one that has no number, so I'll take that as the last one :)

REVIEW

Track 1: This song goes straight to my iPod! The singer's voice is cool and i love the guitar in the background. The refrain is very catchy, it's one of those I won't get out of my head, ever. Great start, I must say.

Track 2: Oh, this is beautiful. I love the singer's very... sensitive(?) voice and the small piano tones in the background. I love the feeling of the song, so relaxing!

Track 3: A female's voice! I must say I don't really like female vocals, but this is really cute. It's a great 'rainy day song'. "The butterflies are still there"... Makes me think of my first ever Coldplay concert. :wacky:

Track 4: Another female vocalist. The song makes me think of a circus, for some reason. It turns a little better in the 'second part', when she singing 'my sad picture of girl getting bitter' or something like that. But I'm sorry, I don't really like this song. I find it.. pretty annoying actually.

Track 5: Techno-ish intro, and then it turns more rocky. It has a Wooooooohooo-feeling to it! Catchy drum beat and easy lyrics to sing along to. This song makes me feel powerful and happy, I actually started dancing a little.

Track 6: It doesn't work.. Not on iTunes neither WMP. :(

Track 7: The perfect place in the mix to add a slower song, after #7. Makes me feel a little sad, but in a good way. The piano and the guy's voice is awesome. And I love the outro! Can't wait to find out who it is.

Track 8: ONE REPUBLIC - ALL THE RIGHT MOVES. I LOVE this song! I'm so happy that you picked it, unknown awesome person. Kind of surprising choice though, it's not the same style as the other songs in the mix. Anyway, now I'm dancing and singing like crazy.

Track 9: This reminds me of the first track. The intro made me interested to hear more, and the rest of the song didn't disappoint me. Makes me feel powerful again. I like the trumpet-like-sound in the middle (random and unexpected, just the way I like it).

Track 10: This really surprised me. A sad, classical piece of music in the end. But that's good! Makes the mix more uncommon, and I like it. I turned up the volume and relaxed. Made me think of the sea and the unknown creatures in there, for some reason.

Track 11: I'm seeing ghosts in everything, STEP AWAY FROM ME LOVER. It's nice. Really nice! Goes great with the other songs in the mix.

The track with no number: Violin! Classical music again! Great end (even if it maybe wasn't meant as the end?). It's really good, but I like the other classical one better.

To whoever made my mixtape I have been unable to download from rapidshare. I tried continually last night but the page said 'Currently a lot of users are downloading files. Please try again in 2 minutes'. I tried again today and got the same problem. Could you please upload to another share site? Thanks.

Still unable to download - the same problem is still happening and I've tried downloading over 3 separate nights now. This must now be at least 40 attempts at downloading. If the person who created my mix is not able to arrange for another way for me to upload then I'm afraid I won't be able to review it....

I feel somehow guilty for putting my mixtape maker through this, but though you were nice enough to re-up it via a torrent site, the link is as reluctant to open as the rapidshare link. I dunno if its easier just to feed individual songs or something...

I'll post my review tomorrow, I had a crazy week at school and I wanted to put some time into reviewing mine ;) Oh and haven't heard anything from the person who received mine but I can't wait to hear what they think! :D

^ looks like someone got the big boss :D

Escapist, can you confirm that the person got my mixtape? Haven't heard anything yet :)

HA! I knew it was you! Awesome, I was privileged to get a mixtape from you! I can't believe the first track was a Bowie song! And I got the norah one, that was a good track. You did a great job of adding a wide variety, that's what I was impressed with!

Ahhh Diamond Dogs awesome album :D Thanks again  Hugs!

^ looks like someone got the big boss :D

shhh :sweatdrop: ;)

I'm afraid the person who got mine isn't going to write a review :(

I've written a review and still don't know who made mine, I'd quite like to know what some of the songs are :D

Come out from hiding fellow mixtaper lol

I think I know who my mixtaper is

I have no clue who mine is, at least you've got an idea :laugh4:

Ok so here's my mixtape review...I can't wait to see who my mixtape friend is

Track 1: A purely instrumental number, classical in style. Heavy on the strings and Piano. Normally, classical music isn't my thing at all but on reflection it was quite a good set up for the rest of the tape.

Track 2: When it started with the line "When there's nothing left to burn you have to set yourself on fire" being spoken, I was expecting something totally different to what then started. It's an easy going track, which after a few seconds introduces a nice male voice., just under half way through a femal voice comes in which had a Martha Wainwright ish feel to it. Nice tempo to it and something that I will definitely listen to again. I was thinking I should know what it is, but so far I still have no clue

Track 3: Straight away I was drawn to this as soon as the guitar started. The more I listen to it the more I think it sounds like Fleet Foxes...I've only heard a couple of their track so I could be WAY off. I like the guitar in it an again it's fairly easy listening.

Track 4: Starts of sounding like a country track but then drifts away from there as the tempo picks up. The singers voice is nice but I don't think this one is for me. Sorry :embarrassed:

Track 5: Maroon 5 - Not Coming Home. The first of the tracks that I recognised instantly. I loved Songs About Jane when it came out. I haven't listened to the album in a while and hearing this made me go back and have a listen.

Track 6: A nice upbeat, punchy little number. The singer has quite a distinctive voice which made me want to listen again. Left me feeling upbeat and I had another listen almost immediately.

Track 7: Damien Rice - Amie if I'm not mistaken :D I love Damien Rice, he's got a stunning voice and it's always good to chill out to.

Track 8: I do like a nice Piano intro in a song :D After the intro the songs starts with a male voice singing in what I think is French. Accordions come into it and the paino is a constant all the way through. The whole song has a very French sound to it. Not really my cup of tea but it did kinda flow nicely with the other tracks.

Track 9: Again, nice piece of piano work at the beginning of the song. A pleasant female voice begins to sing. She has a nice voice, not too subtle, not too in your face. As the song progresses and the drums come in it seems to come to life a bit more. Interesting song. Also, the voice does sound familiar on further listens but I'm still none the wiser as to who it is...

Track 10: A bit of an electro feel to the start of this song and then the drum beat comes in. When I first started listening to it, it reminded me very much of Muse. Not that this is a bad thing at all. I think this might be one of my favourite tracks from the mix. I'm interested to find out what it is and do some exploring.

Track 11: On first listen sounds a bit bollywood. Also sounds a bit like early panic at the disco with its pace and tempo. If that's a dude singing, then he's also got an impressive vocal range too :stunned::laugh3:

Track 12: Nice soft guitar to introduce the song before the piano and percussion comes in. It's a slowish track that saunters along nicely accompanied by a easy on the ear female voice. Like most of the tracks on here it's a breezy little number that would sit well on anyones iPod in their chill out playlist.

Track 13: I found myself tapping along to this. It's an upbeat number, made by the nice silky voice that seeps into your ears as you listen. Cool track.

Track 14: A 2 minute number with a bit of a jazzy feel to it. It comes across as quite dreary. It didn't really grab me and probably the track I would listen to least on the mixtape.

Track 15: Piano track that starts off slowly, does speed up in places but not really enough for me to love it. I did feel at 6 minutes it was slightly long, although the last 2 minutes I think are my favourite part of the song. I do like the voice, whoever it belongs to :laugh3: On reflection it sits nicely as the last song in the mix.

In conclusion, this is a nice easy listening mixtape and there are a few gems in there that I'd like to find out what they are and look into the artists further. There's a couple of the songs that I think with a few more listens might grow on me too. As for Damien Rice, thank you!!! Love him and his voice always helps chill me out. Thank you whoever made the tape. I'll wait now to see the tracklist :D

Ooh yay!! Now I know what the songs are!! :D

Stars, I've actually heard of them. My friend lived in Canada for a year and she came back saying she'd seen them live and they were really good. For some reason, I never did any further exploration so maybe this will give me the push I needed!!

Ra Ra Riot, I've never heard of them but since it was one of my favourite tracks from the mix I'll definitely look into them and see what else they have.

The John Mayer track surprises me that it's him. I've never really thought he'd be my kind of thing so haven't really payed any attention to him but maybe I should rethink that decision after hearing that track.

I think the mission of these mixtapes is to introduce people to music they haven't heard before. I'll definitely be looking into some of the artists you posted! Thanks :D

Well that was me :p I was really iffy cos I had a feeling we were kinda music compatible :uhoh: Glad you enoyed it though :nice:

I'm so happy you liked #1 :surprised: it's one of my favorites <33333, #4 I first heard a couple of months back in my friends truck when she played it on our way to a football game, it's a grower but it's goooood :D, #6: LISTEN TO THE WHOLE FOR EMMA, FOREVER AGO ALBUM, IT'S PURE BEAUTY AND AMAZINGNESS AND WOW...

#8 gets that alot, soothing-like...but it's actually quite sad

#9... Fleet Foxes had to grow on me for a while but the EP was beyond awesome :nice:

#10  i was so scared that my partner would hate me for putting this in there... I'm so happy you don't!

#14 Sigur Rós <3333333 beautiful music

Oh and, Vampire Weekend is  :nice: :p
