they are creepy :uhoh:

But I like the smiley.

Axolotls are way more creepy.. :uhoh:

I have no idea what that is.

Weird. Looks like a lizard/tadpole/fish.

It's a salamander. They look so weird cause never undergo metamorphosis as a larva, so they just grow bigger until they look like this and keep their gills.

Sorry for the late review, but life caught up with me. Heh. Anyway, here it goes...

Firstly: Love the album art! :awesome:

#1: This sounds like Bat for Lashes. I listened to their album a couple of times, but couldn't really get into the music. I like this song though, so I might give them another try.

#2: BEEEEEEEEEIRUT!! Nice song choice. :nice:

#3: This song is sort of depressing. I like it though. The acoustic guitar is really nice, and the cello (I guess it could be a violin as well...) at the end is great. And the song has beautiful harmonies.

#4: Wow, this is totally different. That was a sudden transition ;) This is an uplifting, uptempo rock song. The guitars are awesome (electric this time :D) and the song is really catchy. Definitely going to check this out! The ending is amazing, by the way.

#5: Ha, symphonic metal. Not really my style, though the song sounds decent. Not really something I would normally listen to.

#6: Ah, this is more my style. An acoustic folkish song. Just the kind of music I've been listening to lately, so I'm gonna check this out. Sort of reminds me of Midlake. A tiny, teensy bit.

#7: This song sounds REALLY familiar. Is it an oldie? It's short (and sweet), folk/singer-songwriterish with a female vocalist. And again a lovely guitar.

#8: This is quite metalish. The style of the song reminds me of Sonata Arctica (though it definitely isn't SA) or perhaps Avantasia. Power metal, then?

#9: This singer sounds really Scandinavian. Not the accent per se, but more the tone of his voice. It's a nice uplifting pop song. Probably want to hear more of this.

#10: I KNOW THIS. But I can't remember. :disappointed: It's a short song, really jazzy and it has a big band/swingy feel. Something they might play on radio. Too bad I don't listen to radio much, though. Aargh!!

#11: Owl City. Can't stand it. :dozey: (glad that it isn't Fireflies though)

#12: I Think this is Regina Spektor. Nice.

#13: I love the guitar/violin intro. It's the same kind of style as #8. Though this song is not as metalish. Power rock, then? :P

#14: Ooh, I really like this song. These guys rock! (I mean that literally and figuratively :sweatdrop:) It's a really catchy, uplifting, infectious little song. Probably my favourite so far. You learn to rheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-sent me

#15: This is something different! Very acapella, very harmonious. It sounds very, err.. edifying, I guess? It's a nice change. :nice:

#16: I'm getting a Breaking Benjamin vibe here. The first part of the song is quite calm. Though judging from the singers voice, I'm guessing that their music usually is a bit rougher (i.e. more like Breaking Benjamin). The second part is a bit rougher, though the song has a very calm ending.

#17: I LOVE THESE LYRICS! This song is hilarious! It's about computer viruses.

Overall, I really enjoyed listening to this tape. Although not all songs were exactly my style, I appreciate the diverseness and I really found some cool songs/artists I want to check out. Favourite tracks: 2, 4, 6, 9, 14, 17

Now reveal yourself, mixtape maker! :P

EDIT: alright, here's my review.

Okay, first of all, whoever made this mix left some of the artists names on the track information so I tried not to pay attention as I deleted them, but I did end up seeing that one was the foo fighters, another was Mika (which I would have recognized anyway), and I recognized another name, but I didn’t remember what band is was by the time I got around to listening to the mix. But everything was out of order when I deleted the names, so I couldn’t even remember what number belonged to what artist. So, yeah…

:embarrassed: I thought I didnt left it! Sorry! :shame::faceplam:

1. I like this first track. It’s a bit "trippy," very airy. The instruments build up from this small sound, and then releases into this light, airy mix of instruments. Then the vocals come in half way into the song. I can't really understand them, but the vocals are very happy sounding, going with the light instruments. The song then fades out to just vocals at the end and I hear something about “sunshine” and “the world collapsing” and that's exactly how the song feels.

Snow Crystals – Apparatjik _ So, some of you may have heard of Apparatjik (Guy´s side project with Magne from A-ha, Jonas from Mew and Martin Terrefe). They´ve released their album this Monday, but this song was in one of the many great videos that they´ve shown the fans. You can see the videos on the apparatacle youtube channel. This is one of my all time favorites songs, maybe its because of the rhythm, maybe because of the “lyrics”. It actually says Snow crystals, melting in the sunshine, one of them is our world collapsing on the finishing line over and over again, but somehow the words don’t become annoying.

2. Oh, this is really interesting! The music has a bit of a spooky sound to it, don't know how to properly describe it. I didn’t dig the vocals as much at first, but they grew on me as the song progressed, but I really like the instruments and I don’t know if those are backing vocals are just weird noises made through instruments, but it’s really cool. The ending is really cool. It’s like they're 'hooting' at each other or something. It’s cute.

Love is Noise – The Verve _ Oh, this song is just awesomness! Its from the latest The Verve album, Fourth, and yes, the effect in the beginning is Richard Ashcoft´s voice (amazing!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rXLSWrFVqg]Here[/ame] it’s an interview with the band talking about how it was produced.

3. It’s very pop/rock or something along that genre, I’m very bad at identifying genres. It’s a fun, catchy, tune with some nice guitar going on, but I'm not really getting into this song that much. It's a nice, cute, song, though. I started cracking up when the singer sang, "gone like frank sinatra, like elvis and his mom, like al pachino's cash(?)" That’s adorable! I'm actually getting into this song, toward the end. It’s a nice, fun, cute, tune...

Gone – Switchfoot _ This song is revigorating. As you said, the best thing about it is the lyrics, like when it sais Gone, like Frank Sinatra, like Elis sadness mom, like All Pachino´s cash, nothing lasts in this life… and then Life is a day that doesn’t last for long. They´re, like themselves like to say, a “catholic band”, but you cant tell it by listening to their songs. Their other songs are more calm and sweet, but very beautiful.

4. This song starts off slow. Drums, then guitar. And the instruments build as the song progresses.. I hear an accent in that voice, hehe. I like the vocals. It’s a nice, slow, song. Very mellow.

Olympic Airways - Foals _ This song is from a indie math-rock English band, very alternative, but really good to dance. I like them very much, their album is really great, take a look www.warefoals.com

5. I knew a few seconds into this song that this is Summer's Gone by Placebo. I love Placebo, though!

I already have this song, but it's awesome that you put it on the mix! Cause you can never go wrong with Placebo when it comes to me.

Summer´s Gone – Placebo _ Oh, well, its true, you´re never wrong with Placebo. I chose this one because of the guitars, it calms me down, I thought it would fit perfectly with the other songs.

6. The song begins with a female singing in a foreign language. Her voice is nice, reminds me of a 90s pop singer. Then a male voice starts singing (in English) and he sounds like a pop singer from the early 70s/late 60s. It’s a cool contrast. I really love the male vocals, though. It's soothing. The music has this Spanish sound to it, reminds me of the desert and the beach all in one.

Boa Sorte/Good Luck – Vanessa da Mata ft Ben Harper _ The first thing I thought when I chose the songs for this mixtape was that I waned a Brazilian song in it. But at the same time, I thought that it could be weird for you guys to hear an entire song in a language you don’t understand, so this one was perfect because Ben Harper sings the very same thing as Vanessa, but in english.

7. This song starts off with guitars and then very strong vocals just pound out. I like the vocals, they kind of remind me of the gaslight anthem. The song has that kind of style. Like driving out on an old highway, meeting old friends, making new ones and falling in love. I don't know if any of that makes sense, but yeah. This song has a real "feel good" spirit to it. This is my favorite track so far!

Soon Enough – The Constantines _ :heart:wacky: I´m so glad that you liked it! This song was love at first hearing for me! I heard it in a TV series, and I went like crazy looking for it! I already knew other songs from the band, but after this one I became a fan.

8. Violin! And then guitar. And then very light vocals that contrasts the heavy, dragging, instruments. The main, male, vocals have a bit of this "country" tinge to it. I didn’t really like the vocals at first, but when I listened to the song the second time, I didn’t mind them as much. I like the piano, very refreshing. I'm kind of getting annoying with the amount of "do do do do do's" going on in the background after a while. It’s an okay song, but I didn’t really get that much into it.

Non Believer – La Rocca _ This is another love at first hearing, but this time from a very unknown band. I heard it when I was going through a dark moment, so it was perfect timming, and it gave me strength to go on, you know. That’s why it is very special to me.

9. Retro. Then drums kick in and the guitars roar in the back. I like the vocals, they have this sort of strain to them. It's very nice. The song has this dark feeling to it. The song is slow, kind of repetitive, but not boring at all. The guitars in the instrumental break at the end are really cool.

Closer – Kings of Leon _ :dead: Oh Gosh, I get chills every time I hear this one. I know it isn’t an unknown band not even an unknown record, but I think this one is the real diamond of Only By The Night. Its so sexy and dark :sweatdrop: and Caleb singing it… :freak: But what I really like about this song is the drums. Really. Awesome.

10. I don't really like this track that much. The guitar does nothing for me. The vocals start to sound real cool toward the middle of the song, like really dreamy. But in the beginning they were a bit boring.

On The Mend – Foo Fighters _ Owww, this one is very sweet. When I hear it, all I can see is castles, princesses and King Arthur´s tales. :wacky: And it’s Foo Fighters! Their best album, btw. Go go download it.

11. Oh, this is different! This song has this circus sound to it. The vocals are weird, but I like it. The song is very charming. It’s like the music just doesn't fit, but it does at the same time. This has a theatrical sound to it, which being a thespian, I totally appreciate. It’s like a cabaret circus, haha. And are those trumpets? I love trumpets like there's no tomorrow.

Untitled – Beirut _ Well, that’s my favorite song from my favorite band at the moment. Well, its not exactly a band, its more like a bunch of musicians (different ones at each track) performing Zachary Francis Condon songs. They are all stunning! So theatrical, sweet, French-circus-like, stunning songs. Yes, there´s a lot of trumpets, accordions and violins, all together:wacky:! Its magical and I feel like dancing while listening to it. Go to http://flyingclubcup.com/ to see more info about them.

12. This song has a country sound to it. Not really digging it that much. It's a bit boring.

Times Like These – Foo Fighters_ This is an acoustic version of a well-known Foo Fighters song, but its extremely different from the original version. This one makes you think about life, makes you nostalgic and shows you how important it is to pay attention to the little miracles of life. The lyrics are just PERFECTION.

13. Ahaha. Mika! I know this song right off the bat, it's I See You by Mika. Not my favorite song off the new album, but I love me some Mika.

I See You – Mika _ I´m not really into Mika, but this song gets me… I think that that’s just because I´m really romantic and passionate. This is the kind of song that you hear on the happy ending of cheesy movies :P

14. This song starts off with drum, then mellow male vocals. It’s a slow, sad song. Then is starts to speed up a bit, but still a bit slow. I like the vocals, they’re comforting. A very dreamy song, real mellow. Nice way to end the mix. After this song, I just sat there for a minute, just taking in the song.

On A Day Like Today – Keane _ :cheesy:! This is a B-side from their first album, very calm and romantic. I do love the lyrics and the way that Tom´s voice grows during the song. The back vocals on the ending are really intense, what makes you want to hear it over and over.

Overall, this was a nice mix! I liked the majority of the songs on there and really loved number 7! I’m really interested in seeing the tracklist for this, that’s for sure.

Thank you so much, to whoever made it. :)

Hi SarahSchimidt!!! Glad you like my mix :D

Here the tracklist

3- Behind the draps - Mew

I HAD to put Mew in this mix since I discovered them through Apparatjik. I didn't to put an obvious track as 'comforting sound' or 'Am I wry?'...So I choose this one that I find beautiful and that capture well the 'Mew spirit'!

Owww! I loved that you put it in the mixtape!

4- Failure - Operation Aloha

Don't be surprised to feel being on the beach cause this a song from collectiv project where musicians from differents bands (such james and Jesse from maroon 5) had been put on a island for a few weeks without..well nothing exept some rudimental instruments. The result is a accoustic album that smells sun, beach and peace! You can listen their album here: http://www.operationaloha.org/sounds.html

How interesting! :escaping: to download it.

8- Love long distance - Gossip

GOSSIP!! A great band lead by the great Beth Ditto! Awesomeness!

So, this is Gossip! I´ve heard so much about it, but I´ve never listened to it! I´m really into this song.

9- No other way - Paolo Nutini

It's sound old and sang by a 50 years old man but it's actually a 2009 track sang by a 23 years old young man! This man is one of my favorite singer/songwriter, I'm in love with his voice (yes, in love :P), so full of soul (not the music genre). If you like this one, listen to his two albums! Both have been n°1 in UK.

You´re kidding me! Is that Paolo Nutini??!?!?:stunned: Geez, he´s great, and the voice! I´m shocked, really!

10- Acacia - Julien Doré

Beautiful song from a great artist! In France, half of the population hates him and half loves him...I'm on the 2nd batch :D Love his voice and personnality (he's a weirdo on stage XD). Glad you like it so much! I put him also on the previous mixtape exchange and made a fan... (right Gail?!! :D) Seems like I made a second one!

OH, I´m listening to it over and over. You´ve succeded! I´m downloading his album right now :D

13- Cosmic Love - Florence+The Machine

 I'm SO glad it's your favorite!!!! This track is from the great UK band Florence+The Machine, which is the recording name of Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music for her voice. Their 'sound' is based on Florence amazing and powerful voice backed up with powerful drums and harp. But one of their most distinctiv characteristic is Florence's presence on stage: very intense and mesmerizing.

They are actually n°1 in UK with their debut albut (and nominated for 3 Brits). I made a thread about them in the music section: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65920

If you like this one, then you'll LOVE the album ;)

So, ok, dont be scared, but I´ve listened to it 138 times until now :uhoh: I´m weird.

Anyway, sorry for my long 'description' XD but I'm glad you like the mix!

So here the full tracklist without my babling:

1- Prelude - Rachmaninov

2- I want it all - Queen

3- Behind the draps - Mew

Thank you, now I have a lot of new albuns to download!:P

Before I begin I must confess that most of my mix tape were in a foreign languages ;) so my review will not be as in-depth as others. FL= Foreign Language

Track 1: FL- To start off the mix was a live track from a concert, It is heavy with violin which makes it quite fun and the crowd in the background of the song are enjoying it! The lead singer also sounds like he is enjoying himself with what I presume are catchy lyrics? Fun track to begin with!

Track 2: This track begins with a mellow guitar rhythm with addictive lyrics of don’t sell me. Love the instrumental bit in the middle of the song. It makes you want to joke around with friends. Great song.

Track 3: FL- This song has a bit of a bjork feel in the beginning and then changes to a hard rock feel with heavy singing for the chorus, then switches back to the bjork’y’ sound, then back to the hard rock. Interesting song, not my favorite but it might help if I could understand the lyrics ;)

Track 4: FL- I must say this song is a bit weird but addicting even though I have no idea what is being said. It reminds me a bit of Muse with the music. The singer is singing in short staccato words emphasizing each bit of the word. The song gives off a hypnotizing feel to it.

Track 5: Every time I hear this song I think it should be in a James Bond Movie, It has this sultry feel to it and then it changes to rock part with heavy lyrics, all the while soft piano plays in the background. The singer has a melodic voice that works well with the song. Intriguing song!

Track 6: FL: This track has this way cool intro and then it jumps right into a chorus of fun, with this chime sound in the background. I think it is a French song? I can understand some of the lyrics: Mr. President, bloody? Different song all around, ends with laughing ☺

Track 7: FL : Err I believe this is a traditional German song, It is heavy with bag pipes and drumming! Way fun to turn up loud on speakers and scare roommates with!

Track 8: I’m guilty but when this song came up I shouted English! Hehe not that I’m not enjoying the FL songs but its nice to understand what is being said! This song has a mellow feel to it with a pleasant guitar and tambourine riff. The singer sounds so familiar!

Track 9: I love this track It sounds like the Flaming Lips? I almost sure it is them, it is such a happy track that you can’t help but smile :D

Track 10: FL-This reminds of a mix of Jack Johnson and an awesome blues guitar player. He has such a sultry voice that you can’t help bobbing your head along. I listened to this track three times before moving on to the next track on the mix tape.

Track 11: Great guitar, I’m such a sucker for guitar. This song is a bit depressing but still has great lyrics that make you see past its downcast sound, it has a sound almost like my chemical romance that have great lyrics in their songs.

Track 12: FL- My itunes says this Les Wriggles? The song is acoustic and the guys singing all have great voices and are in harmony with each other. Guitar is helping them along. I like this song, it was a peaceful song.

Track 13: FL- Ah this is my kind of music! While I have no clue what is being said I still enjoy the drums and the guitar. The lead singer is kind of reminding me of the singer from The Offspring. Wonderful track!

Track 14: The singer has such a cool voice! He has a little tweak to his voice that makes him unique; there is a girl in the chorus that helps sing with him. The song has a great beat that makes you want to clap along. Kind of reminds me a little bit of The kooks but much quieter!

Track 15: FL-This mix tape began with a live track and ends with one as well! This song has crazy awesome acoustic guitar in the beginning and then a man sings with a somber tone that changes a bit in the middle turning into a yearning sound. Finishes with loud clapping from the crowd, obviously a well-liked singer. It was a nice song; I wish I could understand what was being said though!

Overall I thought it was an interesting Mix, there were many songs that I liked and few that I didn’t like so much. I feel like I didn’t do the best with reviewing because 9/15 was in foreign languages so I had to comment on the music aspect more so than the lyrical part. But nonetheless this was a fun thing to do and I can’t wait until the next Mix tape exchange! Good Job to my mix tape maker! You gave me some different music and opened my ears even more!

^ French mixtaper ahah. I hate the Wriggles XD

:\nobody's reviewed my tape. or given me a track listing :disappointed: pleeeease?

Sorry for the late review, but life caught up with me. Heh. Anyway, here it goes...

Now reveal yourself, mixtape maker! :P

That, m'lady, would be me. :wacky:

I have to say, I felt it a bit difficult to make the mix for you, because I've never talked with you or anything, and your Last page showed that we listen to a lot of the same artists. That, and the fact that I've never made one before. HAHA. My main goal was to give you a diverse tape, because I find that way, you'll at least find SOMETHING that you like. It seems that both of those things were met based on your ending comment. I'm glad I could be of service. :nice: Oh, and about the album art. Yeah, I stole that from online, and I happen to like penguins a lot. Who'd have thought? :P Now, for the track listing:

1. Your guess was right. :P This one is "Glass" by Bat for Lashes. This is one of my favorites by her. I like the beginning and how it contrasts with the rest of the song after the drums come in. I think the drums make it catchy.

2. I see you recognized it. It's Beirut's "Un Dernier Verre (Pour La Route)." This is arguably my favorite track by him. I love the piano, and I like Beirut, so it all works out.

3. This is "Amazing" by Blue October. The depressing lyrics seem to be a staple with the band, I'll admit. This one is one of their softer tracks. If you want something a bit edgier, try songs like "X-Amount of Words." That one makes me dance. Teehee. :wacky:

4. And to think that I was debating whether to put this on the tape or not. :laugh4: This is "Tiny Little Robots" by Cage the Elephant, an indie band from Kentucky.

I'm glad you like this one. :)

5. This is "The Last Crusade (A New Age Dawns, Part 1)" by Epica. I had read on your Last page that you listened to Nightwish, so I decided to give this a try. This is one of the softer tracks; I'm glad I decided to not include a track with Mark Jensen's death grunts. Well, at least I tried.

6. This is "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" by Fleet Foxes. I had trouble finding a specific track at first, since they're all so lovely. I didn't want to use a single, so I finally decided on this one. I'm glad you like it. :D

7. HAHA. Yes, it is an oldie. It's "Chelsea Morning" by Joni Mitchell. This is one of my favorite songs ever. Every time I hear it, it makes me happy inside, so I decided to include it in the mix. It doesn't hurt to have an oldie every now and then.

8. Gosh, you're good. To be specific, it's symphonic power metal. This is "Forever" by Kamelot, from Tampa, Florida. Actually, the lead singer is Norwegian, which I find to be awesome. Again, it was a whole different sort of thing. :P I like the Sonata Arctica reference; I've been meaning to get some stuff from them. Thanks for reminding me.

9. This one struck me, too. I'm now the 12083921th person to include Mew on my mixtape. This is their song "Wheels Over Me," the opening track to their debut album. I like the upbeatness myself. You were close on the singing; Mew is a Danish band.

10. Maaan, I need to get the radio stations you're getting. They don't ever play Michael Bublé on my radio. Yep yep, I've put Michael Bublé's "All I Do Is Dream of You" on my tape. Really, it was my favorite at the time; I love love LOVE the scatting part.

11. You don't like it? Well, that's OK. I don't think Owl City would mind that much. No, it's not "Fireflies;" that would be too obvious. I opted for "Hot Air Balloon" instead. I think the song is rather cheeky.

12. It IS Regina. :cheesy: It's her song "Human of the Year." Seriously, I think her album "Far" is the best thing she's ever recorded. I'm just saying. :P

13. Well...with System of a Down, it's hard to classify them. Sometimes they're more rockish, sometimes they have a metal feel. I guess hard alternative rock would be a suitable description. I opted to use their song "Soldier Side" for the mix. The lyrical content touched me when I first heard it. It has been a fave ever since.

14. HAHA! Right song choice FTW. This song is "Public Service Announcement" by The Bravery. "You put the 'broke' in 'brokenhearted.' / You put the 'r' in 'retarded.' " I can't help but feel lively when listening to these guys.

15. OK, so I was telling my best friend about the mixtape, and being the fangirl that she is, she INSISTED that I put The King's Singers on my tape. Seeing as they are different from everything else on the tape, and because I wanted to pay homage to her, I ran with the idea and placed "You Are The New Day" here. The lyrics to this song lift me up when I'm down. They're a six-man a capella ensemble, and actually, I will see them live in concert two weeks from today. :cheesy:

16. Breaking Benjamin was a good guess. This is Three Days Grace. I opted for the track "Last To Know" simply because I thought the tune was pretty. Yes, they're usually not this soft, but I think it's nice. I will say that their rockier stuff is also very good.

17. I couldn't help but put Weird Al here. I figured there needed to be some sort of humor in the tape. My track choice was "Virus Alert" because hey, it's funny. Weird Al Yankovic is a great parodist. :nice:

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it overall. I was afraid you were going to absolttely hate it. It feels that my fears are often unfounded. :P
