Why is Taylor Swift winning all these music awards? Is she bribing people? Is it based on music sales or is it just a group of judges saying "Ahh, she's so sweet, let's give her the best album award." ? Stevie Nicks sure drowned her out at the Grammy's the other night.

tbh...the grammy's are a joke, nearly all the noms sucked, don't lose sleep over it.

The Grammy's were a joke last night. Why did Elton John and Lady Gaga look like they got caught in a explosion? Why is Pink dangling upsidedown from the ceiling naked and dripping wet? And why bother putting a act on if they are going to bleep 4 and a half minutes of a five minute performance? The whole show seemed like a waste of money to me.

It is a waste. The Grammy Awards are everything wrong with music these days bottled up and injected right into your jugular vein.

Award shows are based on popular appeal at the moment.

Anyway, Taylor is getting awards because she is selling albums and people like her. Despite that obvious, OBVIOUS thing about the fact that she can't sing well.

Elbow should be sweeping the awards even if they didn't release an album last year.

She is talented, even if she had a pitchy night. She writes her own songs (supposedly) she seems to have a certain amount of artistic integrity, she's cute, and she's insanely popular with the midwestern teenybopper crowd.

 

Vote for her, the thinking goes, and you'll look 'hip' and relevant.

 

You have to be at a major label to be nominated, and your record company needs to put you forward for the award. And you need to make it onto the radio in America. (Is payola really over?) And that's why the system is dying.

It's just entertainment! I missed it actually - well, I caught the very beginning, before all the hoopla and explosions and stuff.. Elton and Lady Gaga - I'll have to go take a look if there's footage on the net..

Which is why I don't understand why they make her out to be the best last year? Her music is fluffy teenage songs and she has so many more years to get better and more sophisticated. If she was the best last year, who is the worst?
