Just how and where she will meet the man who has won the right to sleep with her has not been revealed because Unigirl says she will not be talking further about her actions, which have outraged women in New Zealand and Australia. 'Unigirl' auctioned off her virginity on the ineed.co.nz website More than 1200 bids came in when the student offered her virginity in an on-line auction on the ineed.co.nz website. ‘I have accepted an offer in excess of $NZ45,000 (£20,000) which is way beyond what I dreamed,' the young woman, who said she was desperate for money to pay ongoing university fees, revealed when the auction ended. 'Thank you to the more than 30,000 people who viewed my ad and to the more than 1,200 offers made.' In her on-line hunt for a stranger who had enough cash to spend to sleep with her, the student said: 'I have never had a sexual relationship and am still a virgin. 'I am offering my virginity by tender to the highest bidder as long as all personal safety aspects are observed. 'This is my decision made with full awareness of the circumstances and possible consequences.' Unigirl added that she is fit and healthy with a trim physique and has 'no medical conditions of any nature.' Ross McKenzie, the website proprietor, said he was 'totally unaware' of the ad and denied it was a publicity stunt. 'Our policy is that provided the ad is legal and doesn't offend the general standards of society it is OK, but I need to have a look at this and discuss it with my business partner.' However, it seems that the deal with Unigirl had already been done and Mr McKenzie's investigation had come too late. His website has been operational since August and caters for buyers, sellers and personal issues such as partners or travel companions. Despite his claims that he sought to avoid offending society, one reader of the website, Miss Rosie Erceg, told the Waikato Times in Hamilton that Unigirl's offer of her virginity was 'yuck, sick and wrong.' 'I don't think they should be allowed to run a website like that,' she added. 'I just want to make everyone aware that they shouldn't use a website that mixes clean trading with sick people who want to sell themselves for sex. National police spokesman Jon Neilson said no law appeared to have been breached. But ‘we would suggest it's not a safe practice,’ Neilson told The Associated Press. ‘There are definitely issues of personal safety’ in using chat rooms, social dating networks and other Internet sites that can be used to arrange meetings between strangers. Catherine Healy of the New Zealand Prostitutes' Collective, a group that represents sex workers on health and rights issues, said the New Zealand teenager had entered into sex work by offering herself online. ‘The amount of money is absolutely huge - and that puts her under enormous pressure to perform all sorts of acts,’ she said. But Healy said it was also possible that the successful bidder wanted to ‘save’ the teenager and would not ask her to have sex. She said the teenager would still have the right to refuse to have sex with the bidder if she changed her mind, and that the bidder could claim his money back. Prostitution is legal in New Zealand in brothels and on the streets, as is offering sexual services in print ads and online. Recently a Northern Ireland teenager auctioned her virginity on the Gumtree website, when bids reached £8,000. In Germany, authorities levied a 'virginity tax' on a teenage Romanian girl who sold her virginity through a German website, pointing out that it was a case of selling sex for money, which is taxable. I don't see how it's a problem. Both parties are getting what they want: the girl gets the money, the guy gets the sex. Perhaps the pressure should be on universities to reduce their fees? Let's think outside of the box, for a change. :P
February 9, 201016 yr ...that is what I was thinking of, Saff. Reduced fees and non-crap payments. It's a problem because sometimes they don't really want to have to do it but they have no other choice. With recession and shit it's hard for young people to get jobs especially those still studying. Eh. :/
