Swearing

Featured Replies

Hahaha I dunno what the marching season would have to do with swearing but actually Ireland is pretty liberal when it comes to 'light' swears. On Irish radio the DJs often use words like shite, piss off and even bitch, as well as arse, feck and the few other words adopted into Father Jack's vocabulary in Father Ted. :D Quality show!

The Marching season thing wasn't serious, lol. I have a couple of 'Green' friends who have a few choice words...they haven't figured out the Troubles are over.

I LOVE that show!! It's not a pure reflection of Irish culture by any means, but it's funny as hell. If my Grandfather weren't married, he'd BE Father Jack, lol.

I listen to RTE online, and I've heard all but 'feck' on there.

BTW, any advice on good Irish music stations? I love RTE for news, but they don't play much new music.

2fm have good shows on friday and sunday nights, more alternative, rock and indie.

Today fm also has a really good show on weeknights, all artists you never hear on the radio

again more alternative, singer song writers and all that.

Hahaha I MUST meet this legend of a man! :D

Well your friends aren't alone, there are a few people here who don't like the idea of a Trouble-free Ireland very much, for one reason or another!

Well, he's long dead, so you'll have to wait til the next life, lol.

Some people are all or nothing, and don't look for compromise, but even the Republican diehards I know realize there was no 'winning' and they reached as good a solutions as could be had under the circumstances. Sad to see they're acting up again...let's hope it doesn't go to far this time.
