Hey :)

hey hey there lily

Well about my book..... I can say that it's a story in the world of music, something like romance, humor and drama (even they both sound weird together) but I'm trying to find a way to start the story, it's a bit difficult

I've been to this thread a few times but I think this is the first time you've been on at the same time, Lily... nice to meet you, I'm Grace :shy:

Oooh you're writing a book? I used to love writing short stories. When I was little I made my own comic-book series

that's pretty cool grace :D

good luck with the book lily, i know at times is difficult to mix well the ideas one have.

Well, sometimes it happens  With this story, the problem is I've got several main characters and I've gotta find a way to tell their story without the reader being lost :( And I don't find the first scene....

I have several projects in the same time, so I write a plan for each story and I have a file on each characters but I know what you mean about copy yourself ! :)

i see we work the same way here. :surprised:

i varied my method in the last years, but i keep to the basics.

what i've learnt is if you take long time until you write next time you might fight a bit harder at first, as you lost your 'use' skill as to say. -at least that's for me.-

why don't you try to write a plot for it character and try to meet them with the scenes? may be you need more chapters to develop the story.

btw when i started writing i was like you, i planned a lot of characters until my dad revised the plot and so and started asking: what are their ages? what are their jobs? where are they? will this character appear in the story, big important or you can delete that part?.

recently i tend to think of the main character and then build the rest around it. but my idea of link the stories ones with others make it harder as it makes me have to write down which stories are involved with which ones and in which way.

Hi again all. :nice:

Sorry I was away from my computer because I'm playing video games. :P

Hope you're fine all.

This is the first story what I write with so many main characters. Usually, I have two main characters and the story turns around then. I have a file on the two main characters and just few details about the others but it's not as complete as the main characters are. I think I have to plan each main characters story and see how I could mix them :) Right now I'm just thinking about this story and planing about it. I write another story in the same time, simplier and easier to write :)

A friend who also writes helps me sometimes and she told me that I shouldn't give so many details about the secondary characters, I should focus on the main characters.

Oh maybe our discussion annoys the others  but it's very interesting to talk about it with someone else who writes ;)

Jade have you install your video game on your computer ? ;)

Hi again all. :nice:

Sorry I was away from my computer because I'm playing video games. :P

:stunned:

Sounds like you're developing a bit of an addiction!:P

surely your friend is right, you should focus on the main characters and don't detail too much the secondary ones, at the end they are secondary, i think their actions sure be more interesting than their details, but if those are important to understand their behaviour (as for with The Da Vinci Code for instance and Silas character, his only small chapter changed a lot the way i view him).

I yet have to improve my style and it helped me reading some classic authors (although some are modern), to improve description and dialogues.

yes it is really interesting, i'll be pleased to talk about it more if you want, but as you said, it may annoy the others, but is your thread :p

jade i play videogames on my computer mainly cause i don't have a game machine :uhoh:

I also read few classic authors, there are french authors who made so much describtions like Emile Zola or Victor Hugo and it could be good to read some books of them. :nice:

Yes that's right it's also my thread

I will be glad to keep talking about it with you :nice: By PM or if you see another way .... :)
