So this is how it all started... The album, which was released in early 1993, was preceded by the single Creep, released in 1992. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a huge hit until the re-release in 1993. The song received a lot of attention both from the fans and the media but not all of it was favourable. Radio One even refused to play the song because they found it “too depressing”. However, Creep became a worldwide hit with the release of Pablo Honey and if you ask any so-called filler fan, they will tell you it’s the best Radiohead song ever. Personally, I don’t find it amazing but it definitely has a special place in my heart as the first Radiohead song I’ve heard.

Apart from this highlight, I would also like to mention You, the opening song, which demonstrates how powerful Thom’s voice is and gives you a taste of what the rest of the album will sound like. Other favourites of mine are Lurgee and Blow Out because of the musical and lyrical part. It’s hard to pinpoint the best part in each of these two songs but I could say that all the segments of these songs make them great.

It isn’t a great album, especially if you compare it to others, but it’s worth a listen or two to see how the band started their career.

Must hear: Creep, Thinking About You, Blow Out

Other Radiohead releases you might be interested in: extended plays Drill and Itch, singles Creep, Anyone Can Play Guitar, Stop Whispering and Pop Is Dead and a live concert video Live at Astoria.

my favorite song on PH would have to be Lurgee.

But I also really like You, Creep, Blow Out and that's about it :P

the rest is okay.

I also really like this alternate version of Stop Whispering rather than the album version though Thom really looks like (hate to say it) a tool

Sadly I can't see/listen to the alternate version of Stop Whispering because it's blocked in my country. Boo. :(

Blow Out all the way, great song.

Favorite song of Pablo Honey is Vegetable... Not the best but.. Pablo Honey never did much for me.

The album’s title comes from a Jerky Boys prank call skit in which the prank caller says, “Pablo, honey? Please come to Florida!” to his victim.

Someone told me this earlier today. Cool stuff. Just sayin'.

Pablo Honey never did much for me. :P

Favorite is probably Creep just for nostalgia.

Do you re-call that wonderful youthful energy of the scene years before you were born?

I'm such a bitch!

I listened to "Pablo Honey" while washing the dishes earlier this afternoon. I found it to be surprisingly relaxing, despite the fact that it took me until the B-sides (specifically, "Million Dollar Question") to finish.

Anyway, my favorite off this album is "Vegetable," most definitely. I don't know, I've just always been particularly attached to it.

Didn't know that at all so thanks for sharing this.

Vegetable is a nice song, but I never loved it. It is one of the better songs on the album, though!

Awesome review Nina! I'm going to post my choices later tonight though, just felt like saying how awesome it was

Uh, what's this about by the way? Like, Radiohead Week? And it's Radiohead Week 2? When was Week 1?

I don't get it. I thought Radiohead Week was in conjuction with the listening parties, or maybe it is?

Yes, this is about Radiohead Week. There was a Radiohead Week around this time last year, so this is why it's called Radiohead Week 2.

Radiohead Week was thought up of long before the listening parties. I'm glad you brought those up, though. Is there gonna be one for "Pablo Honey" sometime tonight?

Oh, so we have a week where we talk about Radiohead on the forum?

In that case it's Radiohead week 52 weeks of the year.

Blow Out, in particular the live from astoria version is my favourite off this.

my favourites are You and Blow Out .. and maybe Anyone Can Play Guitar

I WANNA BE WANNA BE WANNA BE JIM MORRISON.

"Anyone Can Play Guitar" makes me feel happy. :wacky:

I WANNA BE WANNA BE WANNA BE JIM MORRISON.
