I ask this question because a friend of mine specifically asked me to make him a "road trip" mixtape, and I'm going blank at the moment. Do you prefer faster or slower music? Do you like heavy music, or do you go more with the acoustic approach? Give me your thoughts.

Maybe that's because you're asking us to recommend song choices for someone we don't know.

Well, he doesn't really care what's on it. Therefore, I have free rein of the tape. I'm just asking for the general consensus of what people like so I can get a general idea of what to put on it.

Mindless music.

Actually, I prefer slow music, it just makes it enjoyable and memorable somehow, and it just affects the way you're thinking and it's just amazing and gives you a whole new perspective on the songs and music, it's like listening to it 100%.

 

Though, I sit in the back seat of the car, so I'm not sure what I would listen to if driving, probably just music that just acts as a background in a way. Though, I don't plan on ever being behind the wheel of a car, vehicles frighten me.

Definitely faster paced music for long road trips. I made a mix for a trip a took a few days ago lots of Sonic Youth, Pavement, Peter Bjorn and John and Tame Impala. I don't know if you like any of those but they all got me threw the drive :D

it depends on the time I'm driving.

 

During the day I'll listen to pretty much anything, but listen to music that is more upbeat.

 

At night I tend to listen to relaxed music, electronic, and more ambient type songs.

Arcade Fire's The Suburbs.

^ See, that's my problem. I tend to think of whole albums from one artist when travelling as opposed to a mix. :bigcry:

 

Thankfully, in Arcade Fire's case, I've decided "Modern Man" is the optimum travel track. That's the first thing I thought of when I thought of this mixtape.

Mornings and driving around on camp at work, it´s normally the local radio station. Often it´s the case of andover sound making the drive-home as well, unless they start playing rubbish when I switch over to Spire. Weekends and driving in evenings it´s normally my iPod on shuffle.
