I think that aliens definitely exist somewhere out there in the universe, but I don't think we have ever been visited by them. I think it's pretty arrogant and ignorant of someone to believe that aliens don't exits at all.

I would omit the word "definately" and replace it with probable. Rudimentary forms of life may be highly probable but we cannot say with certainty.

I think even if there are intelligent lifeforms we may not ever know of them due to the vastness of space. Cool thread btw.

Obviously there is intelligent life out there. There is no question about it. (For me, that is.)

I've always thought that all those people who claim to be abducted and anally probed are likely to have blocked out some form of child abuse and semi-remembered it at a later date. Or just talking bullshit of course.

 

There is likely to be life elsewhere, but if it is advanced enough to reach our planet, they aren't going to respect these fools called humans who can only reach the moon, worship imaginary people and can't see past each others race or sex.

I know, but I really want aliens to exist so badly, I know it's weird but I the thought of never ever seeing or knowing about another life-form in the universe scares me. If there is one thing that I really want is for us to be in contact with some type of a alien species, even if it's not intelligent.

Chances are if an alien form had travelled far enough it would be looking for a new planet as theirs would be in trouble. Also, as said before, if they had the capabilities to do that we'd be in trouble.

A planet was discovered a few weeks ago that is only 20 light years away in a completely habitable zone and scientists believe there's a good chance that life exists on it.

Out of the billions of species on earth, and including all the extinct ones, we are the only ones with our unique intelligence. Also Im sad to say that I really doubt aliens will ever locate humans. Let me explain why. The Aliens would A. Need to be more intelligent than us which we know is extremely rare. B. Need to be able to locate us which is the equivilent of locating an Atom in the ocean. C. Need to travel near light speed. Even at light speed it would take 2.5 million years to reach our nearest galaxy andromeda so really we are limited and have to ignore all the other possible life in the rest of the cosmos.

 

Also another point is that even if the aliens could locate us they would need to have lifespans of thousands of years or live aboard a ship with generations of aliens, this would mean a vast amount of resource is necessary. That being said, im not ruling out technology that would allow this, such as stasis or wormholes, i just think that is also unlikely.

So on a tl;dr-scale, what you're basically saying is that on none of the estimated 170 billion galaxies, none of them has intelligent life on them? I think not.

I saw that Stephen Hawking 3 part series, but Im not so sure, we are rarer than habitable words and if they were more intelligent you would have thought that they would value our uniqueness. Plus they would probably be smart enough to be able to terra form planets, especially as water is abundant throughout the universe.
