But it's true, they don't need to talk and stuff to make a great show. It's all about the music which in the end is the important part of concerts, not confetti or the frontman making jokes.

...and gives out great music at the same time. Muse rely on their live shows to garner a good reputation whereas Coldplay don't. That tells me that Coldplay are more innovative and strike the right notes when it comes to the recording process.

And to respond to another post, to say Jonny and Guy are poor musicians is being unfair. Just because they are part of the song and don't try to be solo stars doesn't mean you can call them 'not good'. For me, Mr Buckland's sweet chiming guitars binds the music that is Coldplay. He doesn't whore himself out to try and be a rock god which too many people think the guitar is for.

Overall I find it interesting that the "smallest" band is in fact the bigger and more successful of the two. :D They've got a perfect mix!

Who are you referring to with that? :surprised:

Muse is shorter, Muse has less members, and Muse are less well known. . .but your post seems to favor Coldplay. :P

I agree that Jonny, Guy, and Will are good musicians, they might not show it as much as Matt, Dom, and Chris, but that's because their music doesn't require rocking out too much.

Whereas Muse's music requires hard rocking and crazy solos. . . just imagine Matt replacing Jonny or Will replacing Dom. . . it would suck. That's because their styles of music are so different.

I'm talking about sound and style. Coldplay have a much smaller sound but it makes them the bigger band. And just to balance things out - Matt replacing Jonny or Dom replacing Will would suck for Coldplay as well!

Coldplay is the most popular of those bands if that's what you mean. Their music is all over the place, I've even seen coldplay videos on the subway tv's, I've heard coldplay songs at the mall and they use their music for adverts and tv shows too. Their music is not "smaller" is just slower.

Anyway, the question is about live music even though I think Muse is better live and in recordings.

Even though I love coldplay I don't think they're innovative, I mean there are lots of similar bands: snow patrol, travis, etc.

I meant both ways as well. :P

Matt would do some epic solo and Guy and Chris would just look at him like wtf.

Although apparently Chris and Matt are friends. I wouldn't mind hearing Matt Bellamy as a guest at a Coldplay show and perform Politik or something. :wacky:

Yes.

Although I think Coldplay are innovative, just not as innovative as Muse.

Coldplay advance more in their music than the likes of Snow Patrol (who I am not a fan of). Coldplay are the most popular but I just genuinly think their songs are more capturing to people than Muse's. But that's just my opinion.

worthless fact - Coldplay don't allow their songs in advertisements! :D

It's not being unfair, Johnny is one of the most dull unimaginitive guitarists I've ever heard, like Reiley said about Chris's piano playing ability it's simple stuff, the same goes for Johnnys guitar, Coldplay are a band of very mediocre musicians that hit the big time, Muse are a band of talented capable musicians that hit the big time.

That's a very sweeping statement to make and I refuse to believe it! They must be doing something to be far and away the most successful band in Britain of the past 10 years and actually the world. And Chris Martin composes amongst the best and most heart grabbing piano rifts. I bet more people have taken up piano/keyboard because of Coldplay and Chris Martin thanks to songs like The Scientist, Trouble or Clocks. It is a true testament to Chris Martin. You write music because you want to inspire people - Coldplay have done it better than most. They may not be the most technically gifted 4 piece band in the world but they are certainly amongst the most deserving.

Oh and Reilly? Approach with care.

I honestly consider Buckland to be a pretty poor guitar player and I don't disagree with what Reiley said about Chris's piano playing being pretty basic either, you're a fan of thier work and that's great but even you acknowledge that musically thier not the best and in my opinion thier far,far from it.

^i may have a huge crush on jonny but he is not a great guitarist:uhoh2:

and Chris is an OK piano player

Understand that while I haven't seen Coldplay live, I have watched countless live videos of theirs as I used to be a total fangirl. :P

Let me just say it: Muse are incredible live.

Okay, they don't talk to the audience as much, but that's because they're focused on putting on an amazing show. . .and then when they do talk, it's really special. It's not just "Thank you" after the song, it's "YOU GUYS FUCKING ROCK!" :awesome: :wacky:

I have rarely seen Muse make a mistake live, and the times I have seen that are from a video where someone collected all the incidences they could (only about 3 minutes! :P)

Their music is stadium-filling music, and they really know how to make a show keep moving. Not once during the whole hour and forty two minutes was I not paying attention to them.

Muse may not interact with the audience by talking a lot, but their music is so crowd-engaging. The whole audience just goes crazy when they see Matt doing an epic move, or Chris starting Hysteria. That may be true for every artist, but for Muse I just felt connected to their music.

Also, Muse designed their tower setup so that none of the fans would miss out on the action. I know it worked, as I was way in the back and seeing Dom was not a problem. :D

Also, the New Born laser-psychoness is just crazy. :awesome: It's so crazy it blew out Nassau Coliseum's sound. :dizzy:

Coldplay try harder to reach the crowd and interact with them more (the stage within the audience), but I feel like Muse don't have to do that, their music is so powerful. . . also, the shiny suits and LED glasses help us see them. :P

One of the major complaints from Muse fans is their lack of setlist changes. This recent US tour, they've mainly kept the exact same setlist, changing out only one or two songs depending on the venue. I can see why some people would complain about that, especially the ones that are traveling across the country to see them multiple times, but they've kept that setlist because it works. The majority of the crowd loves it, and it has a good variety of their best songs.

And the three or rarities they rotate in and out of their setlist are good compensation for the hardcore fans. (Citizen Erased, Take A Bow, and Ruled by Secrecy)

I think the reason that they've not been playing them so much is the crowd reaction. . . the Twilighters that go to see Muse "becuz he's frends with R Patz becuz he maed music for Twilight ZOMG SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE!!! :cheesy:" as well as the not-so-hardcore-fans give them little reaction. Look at Ruled by Secrecy in Seattle. . . the audience is bored. :wreck: They didn't appreciate the song. </3

Now, look at Citizen Erased. When I went to see Muse they played it live in the US for the first time since 2007 (:awesome:). The crowd was going absolutely berserk. They played it again a week later at the Voodoo festival, and the audience again had little reaction to that song. . .

i agree with wht u're saying and loved the highlighted parts:kiss:

oh and you missed out cheers after most song from Dom:laugh3:

U2 had a drummer and a bass guitarist who weren't very technically gifted in the first stage of their career but they grew into something great. Doesn't stop me from thinking that even then they were musically and collectively a very special group. Of course they are even more special today. I'm not comparing Coldplay to U2 at all but I'm just stating a fact that even your criticism applies to the greatest band of the last 30 years.

that'd be the cutest thing ever

That would be freakin adorable! :cheesy:

Depends on the person, of course. . . you get a Coldplay fangirl, they're going to say Coldplay. You get me, I'm going to say Muse. You get most of my classmates, they'll say "Coldplay are gay. Who the hell is Muse?"

While I'm not a huge fan of U2 I do consider The Edge to have talent as a guitarist, and Bono does a good job as a frontman.

Were you saying U2 are the best band of the last 30 years or Coldplay?, if it's the former then that's your opinion and I will respect it even if it's not my own, if it's the latter, sorry but:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:.
