yeah that wasn't a smart move. They should have released it in a physical format.

But it might have been the boys' decision, they thought it might save the world and stuff to not have that man-made stuff floating around out there. From jewel cases, to paper sleeves, to... nothing.

Digital is green, Coldplay is green.. get over it people :P

good point!

But asking for explanations in case you people don't receive a cd it's very greedy and stuff. It's like there is a big double standard, at first telling the band how grateful you are but asking for more stuff after that. Now it looks he just did that to look good.

Plus, if there is a limited number of copies available and they decide to give most of the copies to people who went to that boat thing, it wouldn't make sense for the 99,99% of the fans who couldn't be there. The 5 CD copies contest is the best they can do if they have a limited number of CDs.

Yep, of course. He's writing all this stuff about how happy he was and what a fantastic weekend he had just to look good... I wouldn't have opened this thread this way either but I've spent enough time with him the last days that I know he'd still be happy and grateful about everything, even if there won't be any explanation. He thinks some things could have been improved but he is not ungrateful. He absolutely enjoyed it. He doesn't even want anything for free, he just wishes to have a chance to buy a physical copy.

I just mean we should move back from the personal level. We can leave it on arguing about the sense of what has been written, the sense of the thread, etc. But personal judgements in general are often (most of the time?) inappropriate and create an unnecessary bad atmosphere which I try to avoid =)

cant edit my post but i was gonna say :

"edit : or exactly what she said ^ :D"

You are taking it more on a personal level than I am (using the "I know the guy" arguments). I just posted something related to two different posts I saw.

Actually it wouldn't be such a bad idea to create the physical ones ourselves with some nice pictures of the video. Then everyone could print it and make their own CD of the legally downloaded song =)

what a greedy person come on'

I was not even saying that you did, I just tried to calm everyone down a bit because some posts appeared to be too judging for me

I wasn't the first person to use the word greedy anyway. :blank: But that's my opinion about the subject and I don't think it's something horrible to say considering that he's asking for explanations in case he doesn't get the chance to get a CD.

I just tried to explain that my posts were nothing against you or anybody else. I wouldn't have opened a thread like this. I just thought I'd make people aware that some posts could appear more attacking than intended. I don't think you had any negative intentions in your posts and I tried to explain why I think the same with Mark's.

Now I'm searching for the smilies to find a friendly one but I can't find them^^

I'm happy enough for the amazing experience and I don't need a physical copy to show that.

I doubt they will send us them maybe auction the rest off or something for Crisis

I'm actually being an extra again next week for a plane crash sequence (someone is trying to tell me something! :) ). The arrangements there a little different to what we did, so I don't think Mark is being greedy here as some of you suggested.

He asked if those on the boat could have the opportunity to buy a copy - not a 'give, give, give'.

I did initially think those posting negative comments about the evening was bad form, but at the end of day Coldplay got some extras for nothing, with very little inconvenience to themselves.

That's usual, and the sources are always the same, strangely enough.:dozey:

If anyone actually bothered to read what was said carefully, it would be as clear as crystal that nothing (is being demanded or expected whatsoever (note especially the point about being happy to pay or donate money to charity in return for one of the physical copies that happen to exist).

I was extremely careful in how I worded the first post, as I knew that certain people would try to pick holes in it or totally misconstrue what was said.

I am also one of the vast majority of the 100 extremely fortunate souls who were on the boat who fully appreciated the once-in-a-lifetime experience, unlike a few who seemed to think they had been misled or let down in some way, which of course, was totally ridiculous.:(

If everyone who was lucky enough to be on the boat and in the video did receive one of these limited edition CDs, it would, of course, be a real bonus for all concerned, and hopefully not taken for granted.

I am one of many Coldplayers (including Ian), who was very disappointed to hear that Christmas Lights was only going to be released digitally, as we prefer to purchase something that is tangible.

That's all. Nobody (hopefully) is expecting a gift, and neither should they.;)

In what way? Are you being paid?

Exactly. It's just certain individuals trying to twist things as usual.;)

Indeed, if I were to demand anything, or suggest we had been short-changed in some way (which we weren't), it would be extremely hypocritical.

Incidentally (for the record), prior to creating this thread, I PM'd Ian to see whether he might have got wind of anything which would have made it totally irrelevant.

True, but we've been over all that, and the majority viewpoint was that nothing was expected, and what actually transpired was a fantastic experience to be treasured for eternity.

In what way? Are you being paid?

No but they are providing transport to/ from venue and a meal. As with Coldplay, the love of the subject matter means I'm not looking for payment.

Yes it's a bit of an old story now isn't it? Some people feel aggrieved that they didn't get their Q & A session but Phil has said he will address that?

The problem with this thread is indicative of what has happened since the evening. *Any* criticism is taken out of context or comes across as ungrateful. However, I do think they could have given us as fans something other than a nasty legal contract threatening to sue... especially when Simon Pegg had already given the game away anyway!

lol

If not, I hope someone can explain why "physical" copies haven't been made available to everyone who was there, as they would represent a perfect souvenir of the occasion.

Of course this is extremely greedy. You're not asking why didn't they release it as a CD, you're asking for explanations in case they don't let the boat thing people get CD's (free, or paying for it, whatever).

I'll just say this... if anybody here gets one from the Messenger contest, they MUST post pictures somewhere on the forum! I want to see what this whole "pop-up" thing looks like, it sounds so cool.

Is it for a film? Anyway, I hope you have another fantastic experience!:D

I don't see what the problem was with that, anyway, as it was replaced by the video shoot, which everyone should have been more than happy to have been a part of.

There are quite a few ways in which questions can be asked (e.g. via Coldplaying).

If you can find anything in my initial post that could be reasonably construed as "criticism", please let me know.

This is more about people trying to find something that isn't there, as usual.:dozey:

Agreed.

I could react again but it seems useless.

I'd also like to have pics :D

Ohh are we STILL going on about that boat trip?

Would be great if someone on here got one :)

I don't remember saying that, was I drunk?
