Music for New Year's Eve!

What music will you be listening to for ringing in the new year?:sunny:

(something I ran across - wow, what a party! --->[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmIRgZbzoJ8&feature=related]YouTube - Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, BB King[/ame]

I will be at a party with some of my husband's friends. Almost all of them like country, so I have a feeling that's what they'll be playing.

Well, look at it this way - country, the blues, rag time, shuffle blues, rockabilly - they all converged in places like Memphis, (the other Memphis:egypt: - you know, the one in Tennessee;)), and from that and modernization came rock and roll! So, really, think of it as a history session sort-of, then it's maybe a little more interesting. (Yes, I know - country can be a bit dull sometimes, corny, or smothering in conformity, or red-neckish, but it's got a place too. And some of the shows are top notch, so it might be ok. You'll survive!:laugh3:

As always I will be playing this song come midnight tomorrow:

U2's New Years Day - wasn't that about nuclear armageddon? Or something involving conflict - anyhow, it is a fantastic work of art, and moving with great meaning. Hopefully those days are past us now, and war can be limited by locking all the heads of state in a jar together.;)

I think I'll rather listen to ABBA's Happy New Year! YEAH! Scandinavian's rock!

(and hmm... David Bowe the Laughing Gnome? have to give that one a listen Ian..):ears:

Another good song: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ejga4kJUts]YouTube - The Cranberries - Zombie[/ame]

Brilliant song live too. The Cranberries was one of my first concerts of the year, and they were excellent value.

To be held prisoner at a country music event - I dunno, that's pretty rough actually! Do they have both kinds of music there? Country and Western?

Anyhow, what's a good Coldplay song for ringing in the new year?

Maybe Lovers in Japan or Viva la Vida

Good choices I think too - beginning of Lover's in Japan has that ring tone quality of clock chimes; why Viva la Vida?

^^New Year is coming and being celebrated / welcomed. The spirit of VIVA LA VIDA.
