When do you think LP5 will come out?

WHAT? How have I lost the point? This isn't about those albums and I think I've been a Coldplay fan long (10 years) enough to know Eno didn't produce those albums. And Boy and War are not as good as TUF, Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby. They're impressive but they are nothing compared to the albums I mentioned and U2 would still not be around today without Eno's groundbreaking work with them.

Oh and guess what VLV was co produced as well so you've just destroyed your own argument.

So for you VLV best Coldplay album? In this case there are no point in discussion. Best songs from Viva era - Famous Old Painters, Lukas - wasn't even released, all other good songs are on Prospect March. This tells you everything you need to know about collaboration with Eno. With him boys lost their mojo.

How can you possibly know that Famous Old Painters is the best song from the Viva era when we've never even heard the full version? :inquisitive:

^Well the instrumental version has surfaced on the internet...

I know that, I'm not that behind. :laugh3:

But we can't judge an instrumental of a song compared to full versions of other songs. It just doesn't work, especially if your making a claim like that.

I'm sure you're very up to date!:laugh3:

That's true we only know one part of the song compared to all the parts of it.

Who said this? Sure we can. I found instrumental version of FOP miles ahead of any other song from VLV.

Moreover FOP should had been lead song in LP4, but due to Eno it was dropped.

Ooooh big bad Brian....naughty. Err yes FOP was dropped because of Eno despite no evidence whatsoever. Again don't be silly. What next? Brian Eno masterminded 9/11? Brian Eno gave Coldplay their mojo back. Otherwise it would have gone downhill badly. It's not the greatest produced record of all time but it is still an excellent production.

all of those songs were still created around the time that he was producing them, though... right?

I think Brian Eno sent the boy's in a different direction with Viva, and I loved it.

+1

I don't see why many people here seem to dislike Eno.

ABSOLUTELY!

But I guess not a lot of people like ambition from a band. As much as people may love their first few albums bands need to reinvent themselves and be different to stay prominent and important even to their own fans. It's what the best have done whether it's The Beatles, U2 or Radiohead.

Well said, I agree.

I share your opinion, Howyousawtheworld, what I like the most about Coldplay is that they're not afraid to change styles, to reinvent themselves and to go look somewhere else. That is why perhaps some of their old fans (those who fell in love with X&Y) might like LP5 less (it's just a supposition), since X&Y was waaay different from what we have, and will have, now. And new fans will fall in love with LP5's style and discover the older records afterwards (that's what happened to me with VLV).

The greatest thing is that the boys do not seem to care about all that. They just make music they like and they enjoy their work. And I admire them for that.

indeed. i rather like that each of their albums have a different sort of sound to them.

and while i really love the older stuff, if all they ever made were albums like Parachutes or AROBTTH, they would 1. probably run out of ideas faster than they would if they keep switching it up, and 2. bore the fans... well, not all of them. but i have a feeling that most people after a while would start to complain that all Coldplay albums sound the same. :P

Agree with every word. Read and learn people, read and learn!

Honestly, I found the the instrumental Famous Old Painters...well...bland. :(

Some people already do.

That's because they didn't take time to listen to the music

Monday or tuesday
