and while i really love the older stuff, if all they ever made were albums like Parachutes or AROBTTH, they would 1. probably run out of ideas faster than they would if they keep switching it up, and 2. bore the fans... well, not all of them. but i have a feeling that most people after a while would start to complain that all Coldplay albums sound the same. :P

 

I agree with this! Parachutes and AROBTTH are great albums but we can't expect the band to stick to that sound forever. They need to evolve, to explore while still keeping their essence and I think they've done a good job so far. Many people stopped liking them after X&Y cause they still expected to hear Parachutes or AROBTTH 2 and the same happened when VLV was released and the same is happening now. It's kinda inevitable at this point :P No matter how the album turns out to be, they won't please everyone, but that does not mean it's necessarily a bad album.

See, I think what they are doing is adding some previous videos on YouTube in their Vevo account, so perhaps this is "The Scientist" but what that also means that they won't do it unnecessarily. They must have a new video surely, hence the activity.

I share your opinion, Howyousawtheworld, what I like the most about Coldplay is that they're not afraid to change styles, to reinvent themselves and to go look somewhere else. That is why perhaps some of their old fans (those who fell in love with X&Y) might like LP5 less (it's just a supposition), since X&Y was waaay different from what we have, and will have, now. And new fans will fall in love with LP5's style and discover the older records afterwards (that's what happened to me with VLV).

I totally agree! Coldplay are one of the few bands that never bore you and are brave enough to experiment with new instruments and styles! And somehow, they are always able to create awesome music without ever disappointing us fans :awesome:

It would indeed be a lovely birthday present for you if the single were actually to be released on your birthday, but I think that you should be realistic and prepare for a delayed birthday present.

 

I read somewhere (on a thread at coldplaying.com or on another site via a link posted on this site) that the single would be released in one month's time. I do not know whether this was a guess or based on fact posted by one insider at the Coldplay camp.

 

Usually there is some airplay time of some weeks before the actual release of the single.

 

So my guess:

 

News published between 31 May and 1 June about the single (maybe video - or parts hereof - could be posted so we can hear or get an idea of the LP5 sound / new single)

 

Some airplay time (some weeks)

 

Actual release.

 

 

So likely that the single will be released in little less than one month's time. :dance:
