LP5: have we missed a trick with the "concept" idea?

Remember back in 2010 when Chris asked Roadie 42 to build him a "solar system":

Have we missed a trick here?

Chris mentioned a concept album - and I remember around that time there was speculation this was for inspiration for the next album

Chris has always showed an interest in science- "The Speed of Sound", "The Scientist" obvious track titles (but not much science) I know, but we know he has a keen interest in science-fiction - he's often been spotted in his Back To The Future T-shirt, and I remember reading a few years ago that Chris was a Doctor Who fan as well. More recently the Oracle did answer a question on it: http://www.coldplay.com/mobile/oracledetail.php?id=1854&page=0

So could the next album be space related (and operatic?)

Or would it be seen as too Muse-y?

I think a Coldplay space-inspired album could be great!

i just hope they dont go too electronic

someone steal the macbooks from all the big artists i want to see what they do :smartass:

Wasn't that x&y?

^EVERYBODY WILL SAY THAT.

X&Y isn't a space themed album, OMG.

That would be it, but the track titles don't really convince me that it will.

Doesn't have to be electronic for space-inspired. Operatic or electric guitar is just as space-inspired.

I remembered it had a rumor song list :

The Beginning of the End

Alien Radio

Lights In The Sky

The Soloist / Love Is All Around

Better Than Today

Made for You

Run!

Lethal Dose / Dublin

Late

On the Final Day

It's kinda Alien theme :S but still I would like a space album but I'm not sure sure they will make it cause now they said more inspiration was from NY's graffiti's so I'm confused

I thought the R#42 thing with the solar system was for the Christmas Lights cover?

But it could be spacey and not Muse-y. Don't know if it will, but it can be like that and not be copied. :nice:

^some people have speculated that, yeah...

just because they are/were inspired by NY graffiti and all that other stuff Chris said doesn't mean that they couldn't somehow turn that into a space-y, alien-y thing.

i don't know if it will end up being a space album (although i suppose it's possible), but i would certainly love that. :wideeyed:

for a while i thought we could guess correctly on stuff like this, but it seems like the band change their mind or their story every week.

remember the solar system thing was from a post way back in the summer and we heard from the band that christmas lights as a single was only thought up in late october early november - meaning the ss probably wasn't for that. even though there was stuff in the video.

the thing about coldplay is that they aren't like the sort of hardcore album theme people. i think there are a few bands/artists that might commit to something like a concept album. i think coldplay might have a "sort of" concept album - nothing more. and all this science stuff is just meh. it's not like chris ever says anything in a song that's more than a general acknowledgement of science/history/geographic locations.

First off: MUSE didn't invent space-y rock! I'm pretty sure Pink Floyd started it but I know it wasn't MUSE that brought it to mainstream. So if Coldplay did do a space-y thing, they really wouldn't be copying MUSE.

Second: I don't think it will have anything to do with space considering the titles we know.

im still not convinced that the whole solar system thing was the same thing as the christmas lights pop up.....just saying

spacey album? aliens? (honestly i'd be more interested in a concept album related with modern society since modern industry arised conforming the city models, and how a bird sees it, but an alien?).

anyways it just make me think of this:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=louXPUW7tHU]YouTube - David Bowie - Five Years Live 1972[/ame]

so Muse are not the owners of 'space' music imo.

chris had an interest in science but it doesn't mean new album will be scientific or not, he cares for society aswell, so... thought that was indeed more developed in X&Y album, i don't think they'll do another X&Y album, mostly i'd believe as other bands tend to do on their 5th, simply revise and remerge their own style. that might be the concept thing, remerge themselves and so resume something new.

who knows.

but muse made it fun and exciting:dozey:

Wasn't there an interview with Chris also (not the solar system quote from the blog)

where he talked about a universal/space theme about LP5?? Or am I just confused!?

A more electronic album would be great I think.

Pink Floyd are AWESOME!! Everyone copies them, they invented so much!!!

And I also remember Chris saying he likes to listen to albums in the morning and something, and asked which was the latest one he listened to he said: "Dark Side of The Moon".:D So cool but he also ssaid he listened to Tinie Tempahs album :confused:so maybe we might see the return of The Nappies after all. Thats a concept album in itself:P

There were also some song titles found on SB show, that sound 'space-y'.

- "Wondering Star"

- "Space Symphony"

- "Alien Radio"

And maybe "Alive Day" and "Wilderness"?

I think it's obvious that there will be something ifluenced with space on the album. Not just the titles, but the animations on Coldplay.com, solar model in studio, etc.

I also think that the CL cover isn't that model, because the cover is a painting, and, correct me if I'm wrong, models can't be paintings.

Chris denied that lp5 will be a concept album, but i think space is one of the central themes of the album

What is the Christmas lights cover? When Chris is doing it solo with lights around him
