With a band that has produced so many timeless hits already in their relatively short career what do you think is their signature song? Admittedly it's a tough one!

No but really I would say Clocks is their 'signature song', as it's arguably their most recognizable song that doesn't differ from their usual sound.

Nearly everyone knows Viva la Vida and CLOCKS with the awesome piano riff. But many people do not know the name of the band.

 

I think that one of the above 2 songs, probably CLOCKS can be called their signature song.

Clocks or The Scientist or Yellow

Viva opened up a new bunch of fans, Clocks has been around for so much longer and with a wider fan base. The piano riff has got to be one of the most recognizable songs in my lifetime,Unfortunatly Yellow was not as big here in the States as it was in Europe.

I would say Viva la Vida. Like it or not, if I walk around my school and ask around "Coldplay?" I'll get "Oh, the VLV band". Not many people even knows Clocks or Yellow around here, so I'm going to say VLV.

Wow! Amazed that not many people know of other Coldplay songs where you live! If I'm being honest I'd say everyone I know who would cite Yellow as the first song that came to their mind. But of their hits Clocks for me is THE Coldplay song that best represents them.

It's the same here.

Same here too, if you say Coldplay most people think of Clocks, Yellow, The Scientist, Speed of Sound...surprisngly enough not many people would say Viva La Vida :shrug:

He's not asking what's their most popular song, he's asking what is their signature song. Not only does it have to be well-known, but it also has to represent their sound. How many songs does Coldplay have that are similar to Viva la Vida? None (thankfully). That's why it's either Clocks or Yellow.

I'd say Yellow, though I do agree Clocks comes close. But Yellow is definitely their ultimate signature song. And probably music video too lol
