Okay, I've sent them all out now, except for two which are going to be a little bit late. Took longer than I expected D:

El archivo al que está intentando acceder no está dsiponible temporalmente. Por favor, inténtelo de nuevo más tarde.

So my link is not working :bigcry:

Now is working :awesome:

mine's being a bit reluctant. But no fear, should break through by tonight assuming the internet holds up.

I could tell it was Eddie just by skimming Crests' review lol

incidentally, I decided not to go to sleep and to listen to my mixtape instead. I think I want to listen more than once before I review, though, but so far I'm pretty sure I like it, except for maybe like a few tracks? Pretty good tape. There was one song early on I really really liked but I forgot which letter it was.

lololol, look in the thread for the first time after sending mixtape in and your reviewer is right there :blank:

okey dokey

HI MIXTAPE MAKER

I LIKE UR MIXTAPE

1. You - Gold Panda...lol I find Gold Panda hilarious for some reason but this song is alright. Haven't heard it in FORREVVERR.

Gah, I wanted to make a whole tape of songs you haven't heard! It wasn't in your lastfm. Anyways, I'm glad I reminded you of it.

2. oooooooh this is nice. too short...

I agree it's too short but I couldn't make it go for any longer. First aussie track

3. water sounds water sounds nature sounds i like this already. nice little guitar bits and FLOOR TOM OMG. ehhhhhh vocals are alright. more floor tom pls less woman. Wow backing vocals i like you very much

4. dat synth. nice sooouunddsssss i am enjoying this

Second aussie track.

5. this was cool until the band came in :( hmm okay im starting to like this a bit more. kinda sounds like Battles.my cat did not like this one

Yep, it's battles, from their new album. I found it hard to find a song of theirs that fitted with the tape so this was the best I got.

6. piano i like piano. noises backwards ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. hmm nice singing. wow nice ending

Third aussie track. Yay eddie likes australia!

7. i am dancing. I also think i may have something against female vocalists hmmmmm actually wow this is getting extremely good WOW WHO IS THIS. SO GOOD. I LOVE YOU MIXTAPE MAKER.

mmmm good mixtape thank youu

Thankyou for listening. Now listen to the extras!

i will listen to the extras soon.

Tracklisting:

1. Gold Panda - You

2. Parades - Springborder

3. Braids - Lemonade

4. Midnight Juggernauts - Induco

5. Battles - Inchworm

6. Cut Copy - Strange Nostalgia For The Future

7. Adrian Lux - Teenage Crime

8. Flying Lotus - Kill Your Co-Workers

9. James Blake - I Mind

10. Fang Island - Davey Crocket

Track 1 – Really upbeat. The guitar part is cool. For a moment, I was thinking Sigur Ros :P A really uplifting track, and lyrics are awesome too ‘If love is just a game, how can it be fun?’ And the acapella bit at the end is cool :D

Track 2 – This guy has a nice voice. The song’s far more depressing that the first one, but that’s okay. I like depressing sometimes :D It has a really cool piano part too. Not as good as the first track, but a good track nonetheless. The last 30 seconds… wow.

Track 3 – This song’s a lot more upbeat; probably my favourite track so far. I vaguely recognise the singer… possibly The Killers? Sound similar, anyway.

Track 4 – I actually can’t tell whether the singer’s a guy or a girl; is that bad? This song’s nice too; more acoustic (music I’m quite partial to), but still upbeat.

Track 5 – Not a huge fan of this one, to be honest. The piano’s nice, but… I don’t know. It just doesn’t quite thrill me in the same way as some of the others have.

Track 6 – Woah, bit of synthy stuff on here, cool. This is probably the first time I’ve ever heard bells in a song. It works well, though. Nice track. The last 15 seconds or so is interesting.

Track 7 – Very short track. The piano part is cool; has some nice jazz chords and stuff. /musicallytrained

Track 8 – Now this track. This track. This track is cool. That speedy guitar part at the beginning, then the singer coming in (who has a great voice)... I really like this one! Come to think of it, I vaguely recognise this voice too. I couldn’t tell you who it is, though.

Track 9 – It’s upbeat, but it’s sad… how? I suppose it’s the singer… he has quite a sad voice. But a good track. The string section (actually, section is an overstatement… like, one violin/cello) offsets it really well. One of my favourites so far.

Track 10 – I like this one! It’s kinda techno/synthy, but still has guitars and stuff! I am honestly tempted to get out of my computer chair and fully rock out. Okay, maybe not, but this is still a great track. And wow, then the end… suddenly acoustic! It’s like everything I’ve ever liked ever in one song! Awesome. I’m definitely going to check out some more of this artist.

Track 11 – Is this a live track? Nothing wrong with it, but it sounds it.

But now, the actual song. The piano’s really nice; quite jazzy and upbeat. Not a huge fan of the singer, though.

Track 12 – This one’s cool! I recognise the voice too, I think. The group of people doing that ‘Badabupbada, da da…’ works really well.

Track 13 – The piano in this song is hauntingly beautiful. The singer works well with the piano… but about 1:15 in it starts getting more upbeat. I guess it works for the song, but I don’t really like it. They could have kept just piano/voice combination for a little longer, before bringing in the rest of the band. For some reason, at about 2:50, it glitched up and went to the next track. But it was a good song until then.

Track 14 – This one’s a weird one. It has some strings in it, but also has some sort of weird reversed drums or something going on. The singer’s really good, though. I like this one.

Track 15 – This one’s another kooky one. The guitar part is quite unusual, especially when matched with the vocals. Sounds a bit like Lily Allen or similar. Probably a little bit long for my liking; after about 2 or 3 minutes I just wanted to get to the next track, and I kept saying ‘Is it still going?!?’ Sorry.

Track 16 – This one’s a bit better. It’s quite upbeat, and has some piano and strings and stuff. Nice track, but a bit uninteresting after a while.

Track 17 – A really good ending to the mixtape. The piano’s slow and beautiful, and the vocalist has a beautiful voice.

All in all, a great mixtape. Some really upbeat songs, but some really slow ones as well. It’s obvious you’ve put a great deal of thought into your mixtape, and the ordering of tracks, etc. And I’ve really enjoyed listening, too! :) I have no idea who made it, though…

That was actually rather tricky to write... I used very few adjectives other than 'nice' or 'good' there... :P

1. Strings! :wacky: Not sure about the girl's voice but I like the dreamy vibe of the song. Ok now I like the voice, it's weird indeed but it's a great song. Loved the music

2. This makes me want to dance, so good! This isn't Paris, This isn't London

3. Girl singer again! kinda sounds like emily haines but it's not her. Good stuff

4. Guitar! Again, dreamy vibe, I like it. So far I haven't recognized any of the songs, I'm such a music noob D: or maybe my mixtape partner stalked me

5. Sounds like Bat For Lashes. Caan I trust in you :singer: I like it

6. weird voice. Can't understand the lyrics. First time I hear this I'm sure of that. Not one of my favorites but still fits in the mixtape

7. This is good, I really like the end of the song.

8. some piano, a girl again. A language I can't understand :uhoh: sounds good but I'm not a fan of these kind of songs :s

9. nice intro! the voice not so nice but the music is interesting. It seems you like female voices a lot :P not one of my favorites but again, it fits with the rest f the mixtape which is very good so far

10. The music is catchy and I like it, I don't what else to say but this is great

11. I like how this starts. Sounds like an old song

12. hmm interesting. another female :wacky:

13. I like the pure guitar songs so I like the beginning of this. Sweet voice and I really like this song! "and I'm laura now..." Laura something? :uhoh: ?

14. I like his voice.

This is almost ending!!!!

15. The intro sounds like a movie song, very cool :wacky: I like the strings. Ohh another female singer. Nice stuff

16. So mysterious :wacky: Nice ending for this cool mixtape!

16 tracks woahhh! My mixtape sucks compared to this. I liked it a lot and I'll definitely get some stuff from some of these bands/artists. The songs go well together. It seems you put a great effort in this and I appreciate it :D

You seem to like female singers a lot :wacky:

I think my mixtape partner is from the US but I have not idea who's the mixtape maker. REVEAL YOURSELF!

My mixtape maker is away till Wednesday at least...ah well. I will read everyone else's reviews in the meantime! :)

I hope the receiver of my tape reviews it soon!

Hello mixtape maker.

I will post a review of your tape tomorrow after I listen to it again. It's looking good so far :)

This was mine :curtain:

Thanks for the review Lore :nice:

Sorry you didn't like some of it :P And yeah, there's a lot of female singers on this, which is weird because a year and a half ago I didn't really like female singers at all. :uhoh:

Here's the tracklist:

1. Plath Heart – Braids (Native Speaker)

2. The Bay - Metronomy (The English Riviera)

3. Undertow – Warpaint (The Fool)

4. Black Wave – The Shins (Wincing the Night Away)

5. Mirrorage – Glasser (Ring)

6. Wolly Wolly Gong – Tune-Yards (w h o k i l l)

7. Melectric – Ramona Falls (Intuit)

15. It’s All Gone Tomorrow – Susanne Sundfør (The Brothel)

16. Everything Is Wrong – Blonde Redhead (Penny Sparkle)

O HAI, ANDY. I made your tape. My commentary shall be interspersed within your huge comment.

Track 1 – Really upbeat. The guitar part is cool. For a moment, I was thinking Sigur Ros :P A really uplifting track, and lyrics are awesome too ‘If love is just a game, how can it be fun?’ And the acapella bit at the end is cool :D

Sigur Rós? Upbeat? Nahhh, I'm just messin'. This is "2 Atoms in a Molecule" by Noah and the Whale. It's one of my favorite tracks of theirs, and it's super cute. I thought it'd be great for an opener (and apparently, they thought so, too, given this is the first track to their debut album). I'm glad you like it. :D

Track 2 – This guy has a nice voice. The song’s far more depressing that the first one, but that’s okay. I like depressing sometimes :D It has a really cool piano part too. Not as good as the first track, but a good track nonetheless. The last 30 seconds… wow.

The piano part is actually the main reason I put this track on there. I assumed through looking at your Last page that you liked that sort of thing. Anyway, this is "The Thanks I Get" by Erik Hassle. He's from Sweden. :nice:

Track 3 – This song’s a lot more upbeat; probably my favourite track so far. I vaguely recognise the singer… possibly The Killers? Sound similar, anyway.

BAHA, no. This is White Lies. They're one of my favorites, and I was glad to see you didn't know them, because this is the first time I've been able to use a track of theirs. The song is called "Farewell to the Fairground."

Track 4 – I actually can’t tell whether the singer’s a guy or a girl; is that bad? This song’s nice too; more acoustic (music I’m quite partial to), but still upbeat.

Nahhh, it's not bad. I thought the same thing when I was first introduced to Mew. Anyway, this is "Stand On," and it's by a guy named Jehro, who's a French reggae/R&B artist. I was introduced to him through my tape in the 6th mixtape exchange (Thanks, Sofia!), and I figured it'd be good to put here.

Track 5 – Not a huge fan of this one, to be honest. The piano’s nice, but… I don’t know. It just doesn’t quite thrill me in the same way as some of the others have.

Well, it had to happen at some point. This is called "It Covers the Hillsides," and it's by Midlake, a band from Texas. They're a band I'm actually prooud to claim as one that comes from the same place as I do.

Track 6 – Woah, bit of synthy stuff on here, cool. This is probably the first time I’ve ever heard bells in a song. It works well, though. Nice track. The last 15 seconds or so is interesting.

The tubular bells are my favorite part. That and the vocoder. Anyway, this is "Mirrorage" by Glasser. I've been SO HOOKED on this song ever since I got into her, and I felt like spreading the love. I'm glad you like it.

Track 7 – Very short track. The piano part is cool; has some nice jazz chords and stuff. /musicallytrained

I did that on purpose. I tried my best to make a more concise tape, so I put a few short tracks on here. This is "Start" by Mew, from their "No More Stories" EP. They're the coolest Danish band I know. They're also the only Danish band I know, but that doesn't matter.

Track 8 – Now this track. This track. This track is cool. That speedy guitar part at the beginning, then the singer coming in (who has a great voice)... I really like this one! Come to think of it, I vaguely recognise this voice too. I couldn’t tell you who it is, though.

The band has generated quite the buzz on this forum in recent times. That's probably why you somewhat recognize it. This is from a band called The National, who are pretty much the biggest thing to come into my musical life last year. This song is called "Lit Up." I'm SO SO SO glad you like it. This was one of the ones where I worried that you wouldn't. Oh, and yeah, Matt Berninger's voice is amazing. That's one of the main reasons I love them. /fangirl.

Track 9 – It’s upbeat, but it’s sad… how? I suppose it’s the singer… he has quite a sad voice. But a good track. The string section (actually, section is an overstatement… like, one violin/cello) offsets it really well. One of my favourites so far.

Guy Garvey tends to do that a lot. It's his vocal style. Anyway, this is Elbow's first ever single, "Red." I've fallen so much in love with this band this year, and lyrically, this is one of the best songs ever. I also wanted an older song to offset a lot of the newer ones I had. (This is from 2001.)

They're called drum-and-bass rock. The genre, anyway. The band is called Pendulum, and this is their song, "Crush." You should definitely check more of them out, given they're from your lovely Australia. They tend to be very upbeat, generally speaking. :nice:

Track 11 – Is this a live track? Nothing wrong with it, but it sounds it.

But now, the actual song. The piano’s really nice; quite jazzy and upbeat. Not a huge fan of the singer, though.

Ehhh. I decided to take a risk with this one. I wanted an interlude of some sort, and I thought this song would work. I was reluctant to use James Blake, but hey, I'm really into this guy, and I think this song is cute, so I decided to go with it. It's called "Give Me My Month." The piano is pretty great.

Track 12 – This one’s cool! I recognise the voice too, I think. The group of people doing that ‘Badabupbada, da da…’ works really well.

This was one of those artists who I chose based on gut feeling, as opposed to using stalking techniques. I'm so glad this one worked out so well. This is "Stray Cat," the opener for the debut album by Kassidy. They're a really nice Scottish band, and I think everyone should look more into them. I'm sure Paula will back me up on this one. ()

It glitched? SUCKS. :( I'm sorry about that. That was "Letters in the Sky" by Civil Twilight, a band originally from South Africa. They have had vague comparisons to Coldplay, so I thought they might be a nice fit. I had another song in mind, but I try not to use the same song on multiple mixtapes, if I can avoid it.

Track 14 – This one’s a weird one. It has some strings in it, but also has some sort of weird reversed drums or something going on. The singer’s really good, though. I like this one.

This is another artist I discovered through a mixtape exchange, this one through MTE 5. The singer is Owen Pallett, who at the time of this recording went by the name Final Fantasy. (He doesn't use it anymore, though, so there's no point in calling him that.) The song is called "This is the Dream of Win and Regine." I wanted to throw in something slightly different. I thought the same thing when I first heard his voice. :nice:

Track 15 – This one’s another kooky one. The guitar part is quite unusual, especially when matched with the vocals. Sounds a bit like Lily Allen or similar. Probably a little bit long for my liking; after about 2 or 3 minutes I just wanted to get to the next track, and I kept saying ‘Is it still going?!?’ Sorry.

Yeah, my bad. I should've known better. I wanted at least one relatively massive track; I just picked the wrong one. I like the beginning. This is "Seed of Wonder" by Jesca Hoop, who I discovered not too long ago. You should really give her other stuff a shot. It's not nearly as long.

Track 16 – This one’s a bit better. It’s quite upbeat, and has some piano and strings and stuff. Nice track, but a bit uninteresting after a while.

Meh. At least you think it's nice. This is "Fall for Anything" by The Script, who hail from Ireland. They're one group in my pop arsenal that I like rather much. I'm sorry it started to bore you, but at least you thought the piano bit was cool (as it was why I put this here in the first place).

Track 17 – A really good ending to the mixtape. The piano’s slow and beautiful, and the vocalist has a beautiful voice.

WIN. This is the "old" track on the tape. (1998, actually) It's called "Sleep," and it's by Imogen Heap, who is pretty much one of my female musical idols. Seriously, if I could trade places with anyone, it'd be her. This is the closing track from her debut album, and I thought it'd make the perfect closer here. I'm glad you felt that way.

All in all, a great mixtape. Some really upbeat songs, but some really slow ones as well. It’s obvious you’ve put a great deal of thought into your mixtape, and the ordering of tracks, etc. And I’ve really enjoyed listening, too! :) I have no idea who made it, though…

VICTORY. :wacky:

Oh yeah, you don't even know. I was freaking out about it the whole time. :laugh4: I purposefully put songs of varying tempo on this because on my last one, I made the mistake of putting too many slower songs together, and my recipient got slightly bored because of it. :embarrassed: I'm so happy you enjoyed the tape! That was my main goal.

That was actually rather tricky to write... I used very few adjectives other than 'nice' or 'good' there... :P

Oh, you did fine. :nice:

In closing, I guess I'd just like to say thank you again. The positive feedback I got for this tape makes me feel so much better inside. :wacky:
