Chloe_Martin
I've painted this artwork in 2006 for school and when I saw it was the artwork for viva it was kinda awkward  But it kinda does if Jonny went gold and got his pornstash back :D
Darlene_Ihnfsa
i think it was commmented on some thread about the VLV album back then, that seemed at least jonny and guy were on the paint.
Lu'kaa
Well Delacroix was known for being a huge Coldplay fan, so maybe it's a private joke or something!

Guest howyousawtheworld
Best album cover they've done. I love it along with the Battle of Poitiers painting on Prospekt's March. I love the historical feel to it....partly why I respect the song Viva La Vida! Any song that can get to number one that mirrors the fate of Louis XVI deserves massive respect in my book! Karencorpse
I always thought it looked like an anti- pyrmid symbol. the red part looks like a capstone being knocked off the top. The guy at the bottom does look like Jonny.
chuck kottke
That, and there's a pointy-headed psilon in the waving red part of the flag!:stunned:

I just think that if the song is about a real king, it would be Herod the Great. His story is totally consistent with the lyrics! And to me, this cover is the first one to actually mean something, about the album and about the band. The three first ones just had 'a vibe' of the album they were covering, but it was random stuff... This one is, like the album, about life, death, passion... and a revolution implies huge changes. Coldplay's music totally changed with this album, so it's about their revolution too. It really has many levels of interpretation. LOVING IT.
