Felicci
Hi guys! Once again I don't know where too post this to get my answer  (sorry, but this forum is a little confusing to me...) The song Politik is one of my absolute fave coldplay songs and I have been wondering this for quite some time. Does anyone know why the band decided to spell Politik with a "K"? That's not how it's normally spelt in English, is it?
jc90
No, it's usually spelt with a 'c' at the end. Very good question that i've never thought about, might be worth asking The Oracle about if someone here doesn't already know, I sure don't. Felicci
Politik means policy in German I think Well Politik means politics in swedish. But i don't think that's why they spelt it that way... :P
maria77
The "k" it's to enphase the meaning of the message they want to pass through the song, I think. To be politik - it's a stronger word to spell than "policy" is... just my opinion.
Juanma
Dont know why but in Spanish if you read politik .. K sounds ca. And forms politica = politics :P

Mark
I don't think there's necessarily a reason guys, but that's my opinion. Politik looks rather beautiful as a word though. The "k" to me seems to be guarding the "i"s. But maybe I'm mental. Prospekt also has a strange "k", as does "Lukas". It is one of my favourite song titles ever though. I'm in a band and wrote a song which I named Potencia in Politik's honour.

Well, maybe they just like "K"! :P
Kiame
It's a reference to the German word "Politik" which means policy. "Tell me you're own policy.." makes sense. "tell me you're own politic" doesn't. That's what I have always believed anyway.
WookieBunny
Maybe it has to do with numerology K is the 11th number in the alphabet which would also make K 2 K - 11/2 represents extremes 11 - 2 = 9 Politik = 11 open up your eyes.... Prospector
Prospekt is the name of the character of the song, Chris saind once he chosed this because Prospekt means street on russian, or something like that. And K is just such a cool letter to use

Comrade Mike
The K in Politik was Phil Harvey's idea, IIRC.
