Hey people, I think this thread is necessary after all the controversies, that Paradise started.

I've not been a member here for long, though I've been in love with Coldplay for quite a while now, but since over the last 3 years there was not a lot coming from them, it was only this June that I decided to create an account here. So much for my person.

I think it's sad, that people are starting threads about how bad the song is. Is this a Coldplay fan page or what? It's okay not to like a song, but it's not okay to write stupid comments on it and try to piss off others. Why can't people who dislike the song leave people who like the song their own opinions? And vice versa, too. Nobody needs to be convinced because every single one here's got their own opinion, which is not worth less and not worth more than that of others. How about we respect each other's opinion? It would be sad, if this one single song would lead to more controversies than it has already.

I for my part love it, but I wrote that in other songs, so let's not talk about loving or hating here. All I wanna say is - opinions are opinions and therefor need to be respected.

There are strong emotions running in this forum...that´s why things get out of hand sometimes with different opinions. It is annoying I must agree, but there it is

The amount of criticism on MX era / Paradise is really above average. (Some people saying Coldplay R.I.P). This is so much more than not liking a song. It´s personal to a lot of people posting on the forum: apparently they are all disappointed about the new direction and that´s it, not so much about not liking a certain song, just not liking the whole package.

Lots of us actually like some of the new songs, but that doesn't mean we won't also talk about what we dislike. Why don't you all create threads about how good you think the song is instead of trying to make people stop talking about how bad the song is in another threads?

You just totally didn't get my point. Once again - I just don't like if people spread their hatred on a song all over. In every single thread. And don't leave people who like the song (never said anything about worshipping...). Because that's all I want - to respect other people's opinions. I am not forcing you to like the song, not at all. I'm just saying respect my opinion and don't call people who like the song 12 year old (which you in particular didn't, but someone else did and I'm sure a lot of people thought the same). Because I respect your opinion and I don't call you 12 year old.

Same answer to Cleggy, btw. Read more carefully what I'm trying to say (even though English is not my mother tongue, so excuse my mistakes).

 

Edit: And for that matter - yes, people who like the song shall leave people who dislike the song their own opinions as well. But that's what we're doing. At least I have not seen a post that showed anything else. But I saw those posts (and more than one) the other way around.

I'm starting to get tired of this. Why can't people be more open and realistic? Some people like the song, and some don't. Some people like the 'new direction' and some don't. That's just the way it is - and how it should be. Respect that.

Sigh. Spreading hatred doesn't mean I think you're haters. I totally can accept your negative opinions. There's nothing wrong about them. And I don't think that "true fans" are determined at how much they like one song or another. I have not read those comments, but maybe that's because I didn't read most of the threads with stupid titles. Sorry for all those people who're trying to force their opinion on others, because that's exactly what I find so stupid about all this.

When, I ask you when, did I ever ask you to not voice your opinion and enjoy the song? :( I'm getting tired of trying to talk myself out of a discussion I didn't even want to get into because it's so unnecessary. All I'm saying is respect other people's...oh, I guess I've made that point clear. Maybe not after all...

I guess I was speaking too much for me. It's just how I feel about this whole useless conversation and I feel bad about starting a thread for it. I guess on both sides there are "extremists" (not that I really mean this word ;)). I'm gonna leave this thread untouched now and hope people won't dislike me too much after this :P

But it would be nice to be able to discuss, in order to exchange points of views. Someone pointed that Coldplay were using too many OOH OOH (a criticism): I never thought of that before and that got me thinking. I might not agree on the reason, but I learnt from another´s perspective. If we can not discuss in a civilized manner, there is no point in having a forum

Yes I agree. I think it will calm down in a few days. Gotta give it to MX though: the most controversial Coldplay album to date :) Quite an honorary title already!

 

However I do often feel quite alone in voicing my love for Paradise or other new songs. Yes there are extremists on both sides, but knowing this is Coldplaying, one is always aware that the funders are the long-time fans and probably amongst those not liking the new material, so it´s bit of an awkward time for an MX lover. That said, the site remains very good at being impartial, so it´s all a good :)
