the_escapist
Now that Mylo Xyloto is out, and we have heard all the album, did you like the fact thay they performed many songs before the actual release? Yes? No? Or you don't mind? VOTE and DISCUSS!
jc90
I was just think about this the other night. I guess since they wanted to promote the album a little bit, I would expect them to play a few songs. I vaguely remember someone asking the oracle early in the spring/summer if we were gonna hear any new songs at festivals and the oracle said no. Playing one or two songs is alright, but they played quite a few. I would've just stuck with ETIAW and Major minus maybe....But the alternative is to not play any songs at all which wouldn't work either, since it's not exactly the Viva era anymore. TL;DR, Fewer song's should have been played (1-3 songs)

I mean, we pretty much heard every song on the album before it was released. I just think I would have looked forward to the new album more if I hadn't heard almost all of them. Don't get me wrong though, I absolutely love the new album and enjoy all the songs.
rousi
When I first watch the festival performances in youtube it was great because I was in need of new songs, but I have to say that after the album release I would maybe prefered that they had not played before. It is like they have released 1/2 album. But I can deal with it. I will not listen to new songs for the next album, till the album is out.
Dan 6N
This is a good question actually. I voted no because I like the surprise of lots of new songs all at once rather than just a few and when you finally do get the album the songs that you've already heard sound kinda old already... laga
On the one hand, if they had played at the festivals without playing new songs it would have been kinda disappointing, but now that I have the album I wish they had not played so many new songs, you know. If it had been two or three songs, ok, but they had played and/or released all of them at some point except for UFO, DLBYH and Up With The Birds. One could argue I still had the option of not listening to new songs before the album was released but that would have meant not watching any of their performances- at big festivals or TV appearances- for 4 months or seeing them live. The only good thing is that people kinda knew what they were getting if they decided to buy the album.
IloveChris
I voted no too, knowing most of the songs kinda ruined the mysteriousness of the album. I dunno if that's a word, but yeah you get what I mean.
vzollo
I would say yes and no. As a mega fan like many of you I waited till the album was released to listen to any songs expect for "Every tear" But im so glad I waited because all of sudden I have all this great music to admire all at once. kinda like Christmas for me lol
l0wxo2
I voted no because I feel that the studio versions of some of the songs cannot compare to the live versions. For example, Hurts Like Heaven and Major Minus are better live in my opinion than on the album. I do like the studio versions of UATW and Charlie Brown but they are better live as well. Jenjie
undecided on the fence yes because there's more chance of words sticking in my head before December no because I had a slight disappointed feeling when I realised how much of the album I'd already heard when I played it the first time. NumbersGirl
I voted yes. I could get an idea of what to expect. If they had not played new songs at the festivals, they would have been dissed so much for it. People would say, "well this is lame, they've been in the studio but they're just resting on their laurels at these concerts." If people didn't want to spoil the album, all they had to do was not listen. I know, that's much harder said than done, so I'm not insensitive to that. It just seems like they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. But I'm glad they did.
Tonsu
Can't vote! 'Some songs' - no, not at all, think it was great. 'As many as they did, with the album versions being worse, and a couple more released as singles' - yes!! :P
