Who else misses the old Coldplay? =/

Featured Replies

I think many people get it to them off the back of U2, because they are quite simular in how to the public the perception of their music is shown. It is a very different musical evolution, but at the same time each album arguably has its own unique sound quite simular to what U2 have also done of late.

I do not know maybe coldplay would evolve as the unknown singer my friend a big fan of Coldplay

great listen the songs

What does that have to do with the old Coldplay!?

the old coldplay does not work with the showbiz, musicians without influence of showbiz, and less known less commercial but much quality logic . it's not like they wrote all the songs all alone, the producers changed lots for sale albums. So it's less the old coldplay

I don't......the band is great right now. Since Viva they became one of this great band on music history, like Pink Floyd, Led....

It's just that I think the "new" one is focused in pop music, and worried about getting more fans =/
I wouldn't worry too much about them trying to get more fans :nice:

They already had a huge fanbase so it might even be considered brave of them to make an album that's not like the previous ones. With so many fans there's always some that won't like it.

Also don't mind the facepalms etc. Some people like me just spend too much time on this board so we have seen topics just like this one before. Some are therefore not even bothered anymore to respond in a constructive way.

Lory, why would you post something solely in a spoiler? If it's because it has nothing to do with the topic, then maybe don't post it at all? And if it does, then maybe not put it in a spoiler?

- Okay, back to work! :)

Kinda. I was younger when the first three albums came out. They seemed bigger then for some reason. I wasn't a fan until recently, so I don't really 'miss' it. There didn't seem as much of a stir in publications and the like for MX as there was for VLV and X&Y. I dunno. Nostalgia I guess.

This again?

Yep, it seems so.

I'm with those saying Coldplay want to explore, and am inclined to think this album is not their final destination.

Yeah I miss the old Coldplay, but right now I consider Viva to be old Coldplay. I was thinking that when the 6th album comes out, I'm going to think of MX as old Coldplay. With much thought, though, I have discarded that idea.

Every Coldplay album is good. Every one. But MX is different. It's an okay album to me, but it's just not what I think of when I think of Coldplay. There isn't any sentiment I attach to it. When I listen to MX, I don't get that grand exposure of atmosphere, sentiment, imagery, and depth as I do with the other albums.

In a way, that's kind of made MX suckier -- the fact that it can't match the previous albums. It doesn't have a place in my heart and I can't make room for it because it doesn't belong there. It doesn't speak to anything in me (and now you reserve the right to call me a mawkish scumbag).

Although this album isn't particularly amazing comparatively, I still have hope that Coldplay will look to write music from the soul again. I hope they will write songs like 42, Shiver, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, and Fix You that have structure, imaginativeness, and creativity. I hope they make something that seems to express some type of emotion completely relevant to thousands or millions of people around the world. MX will be forgotten in a few months. A Rush of Blood and Viva La Vida will... well, live forever.

Everybody that says that every band changes likes the new album, bull shit. I dislike this new album but it is true that every album is different. But that means that in the next album they´ll change aswell so maybe you´ll like that album more, or the next one or the next one or the next one or the next one or until they are DEAD.

As I see it they are the same Coldplay. They are the same four men that started a band 12 years ago, none of the members has split. They are just a process, an evolution. I think that Mylo Xyloto had to be released sooner or later. Why? Because they do the music that they feel to do in every moment of their career. So... when they release LP6 maybe part of us will say: hey, we miss the "old" Coldplay, again. Including Mylo Xyloto. Or maybe we will say: hey, we are waiting for LP7 because we don't like this new album or is not what we expected, we waited so many time for this! Oh god. They are just a shifting band, like all us along our lives.
