Smalls ants in my laptop.

Featured Replies

This is only a suspicion. I have seen a couple of ants crawl around my laptop (mainly the keyboard and the screen and not the underside), pretty often too. They're small red ants, and I don't know how much harm they can do to my laptop.

Just now, I've seen one enter the keyboard. Mainly driven there because I was trying to get rid of it.

Yes, I have been eating near my laptop. My room also has those similar ants, I found them more than once. Though when they gather, they're not huge a number. Yet.

Long story short, I'm looking for a way to clean my laptop that's affordable and effective.

Help, please. :bigcry: I really don't wanna suffer anyone's naggings because of this.

I'd imagine they'd get crushed under the keys or die from lack of food?

I really don't know what you can do, short of bringing the laptop somewhere tech-y and asking them to clean it.

I'm thinking of vacuuming it from a distance. :|

or just put this off as paranoia

This. Or I think, they will find their way out?

They can cause a short circuit on the motherboard, better to get rid of them.

I should think they will find their way out, I'm just afraid they make it their home.

I don't know, no sign of huge colonies walking out, or small colonies either, I should think I was being paranoid. :shifty:

thanks guize

Can't you just get some of that air-in-a-can stuff and "spray" them out with air?

Are these the really super duper tiny red spiders that can almost be classified as cute? If so, those are usually a "seasonal" thing anyway and aren't around for very long. We get those near our fireplace and some doorways for a couple of weeks in the spring/summer, there's not much else you can do other than vacuum them, crush them, and just wait for them to go away. But yeah, try to get some of that pressurized air to clean out your keyboard.

computers can get pretty hot, maybe they burnt to death :cheesy:

but yeah, get some of the compressed air stuff. That's how you're supposed to clear fans of dust, so i'm sure it'll work??

Oddly enough, after I posted this thread, the ants haven't been showing up.

I was thinking of using pressurized air too, just that I have no idea where to get one over here. >_>

the ants are most probably gonna appear now that i've said they are not showing up.

When I first got my MBP, I noticed five or six ants go in and out of the keyboard. It's been a while since I've seen any, come to think of it.

Old thread but amusing thread

Why would ants live in a laptop?! I can only guess they're having little adventures and quests retrieving food from underneath the keyboard, while avoiding the perils of being crushed by fat human fingers pounding on the keys. Each successful venture, a further advancement for their ant hive...

Actually sounds interesting now.

Maybe I should stop posting on here late at night.
