The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You

Featured Replies

I have a few times (still need to really listen to "Rain", though). I couldn't really get into the songs themselves, but it was still really interesting for me to hear the "beginnings" of Muse.

Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way. I'm not sure as to why I still have the demo on my mp3 player, honestly. :uhoh:

Haha, I did the exact same thing!

SWEET! -highfive-

I just realized, it's my 4 year Muse anniversary next month.

I love Myooze. :wacky:

Happy early Muse anniversary, Kelly!

but this e6d7a9cc.gif is cute and :snobby: is ugly and means totally something else

I think the :snobby: smiley is a cute one, despite it being snobby.

I also like Muse's fear.gif smiley.

HAHAHAHA, I like that one.

  • I've been a Muse fan for a couple of years now. I liked a couple of their hits but then a friend invited me to come with him to a Muse concert with him in 2013. The live experience was amazing and I h

this makes me want to troll back in the twishit forum

^i dont even know whr the twilight fansites are but i dont need them, i have a friend who is obsessed with Edward Cullen and thinks Edward is based on Matt Bellamy.

and likes i belong to you and undisclosed desires and whenever i put on take a bow she hates it...:veryangry2:

i have a friend who is obsessed with Edward Cullen and thinks Edward is based on Matt Bellamy.

This amuses me greatly.

the interesting part is the according to her the other guys in the book are based on Dom, Tom and Chris :laugh4:

she just says this and i get out of my fan girly mode :sad2:

If she says Jacob is based on Chris, I will hunt her down.

i think according to her Dom is based on Jasper and Chris is based on Emmett and i don't remember who is based on tom.

but all the vampires are based on muse :veryangry2:

 I have friends like that, too. Except they don't know who Muse are, only " the band who does Supermassive Black Hole", so they say it to wind me up.

When I was a senior in high school, all my group of friends had to say to irritate me was, "Muse is gay. All of them." :blank:

Well it's been a week since i saw Muse at the Staples Center last Saturday and I finally have a chance to post a review of it. :)

The show was great! I had a lot of fun with my friend(this was her first concert!) and she thought it was amazing. I thought the towers were really cool. I loved how it's just three of them and they make such a massive sound live! The highlight for me was Starlight, it being my favorite Muse song. It was definitely a memorable moment. Hysteria, Uprising, and Knights of Cydonia were other big highlights for me as well. I thought it was awesome that they ended with Knights Of Cydonia. I was kind of bummed cause I thought they weren't going to play it but they did! :D They are great performers. I just wished Matthew Bellamy would communicate more with the crowd, I felt that he didn't that much, but whatever, I was there for the music an they performed it brilliantly!:D

Just discovered Muse *-* Bought the showbiz album yesterday, loved all songs...all they have incredible deep meanings :P And Sunburn, Showbiz, Muscle Museum, Cave and Fillip are my favorites till now :P But i gotta listen more carefully to the album :D

:cheesy: Good job! :awesome:

Actually, back in the BHAR era when I started to listen to Muse hardcore, I worked backwards through the discography. Given how young Muse were when they made that album, it's pretty legit.

I listened to them:

Resistance-> Origin of Symmetry-> Showbiz-> Absolution-> Black Holes and Revelations

:wacky:

Have you ever listened to the Newton Abbot Demo?

What's that? :wreck:

I just realized, it's my 4 year Muse anniversary next month.

I love Myooze. :wacky:

Congratulations!

Haha ... I could try to make the :ninja: fit to Coldplaying's other smilies, but I don't think the Muse boarders will be to fond of that. :uhoh:

But ... what does :muse: look like? :wreck:

Might try one when I'm back home, but you have to support my request. :botoxlips:

We already stole their :srs: smiley!

:muse: looks like:

i also want e6d7a9cc.gif here too

 Yeah!

i think according to her Dom is based on Jasper and Chris is based on Emmett and i don't remember who is based on tom.

Fail.

What's that? :wreck:

It's one of Muse's demo cassette tapes they made around 1996-1997ish. I'll let Musewiki do the explainin' . . .

YOUNG MUSE :awesome:

You can find a few of the songs on YouTube. Matt sounds so young. It's kinda cute.

WTF IS THIS HOW HAVE I NEVER EVEN HEARD THEM?! :bigcry:

Thanks!

If you go to Muselive.com and go to the Media section, you can download the entire Newton Abbot demo for free. That's how I ended up getting it.

As a matter of fact i have some doubts.

I heard all the Showbiz songs, im really amazed. Best first album of a band ever imo.

Im trying to understand how a band who has no fame(in the begining) manage to do a first album that talks of Showbiz?

And also...I get confused trying to understand some of the lyrics, maybe because my native language is portuguse but anyway here is my vision of the album:

Sunburn -> He is talking about the showbusiness right? At first i tought it was about a woman, but... `she'll burn our horizons` i could only think of the music industry after i heard that line carefully...but still `secretely she cries` whats that means? Or perhaps its just ambiguous by purpose.

Muscle Museum -> a woman break up with a guy, after taking all his shit: `Too long trying to resist it

You've just gone and missed it` But after the breakup he notice that he really need her, and should valorized her more but its too late.

Fillip -> To me this is almost a sequence of Muscle Museum, its kind of a one night stand `last memory` with the same woman of the last song, and he starts to notice that he REALLY needs her and perhaps that she was the one. `I never knew That you were the one`

Falling Down -> some people said is about his hometown, but to me thats not very clear...perhaps could it be about a relationship as well, maybe his first love?

Cave-> to me this is a continuation of the firsts songs...he is alone after breaking up and dont think anybody can help him, and think he will deviate anyone who comes near `burn your heart away`

Showbiz -> Showbusiness right?

Unintended -> pretty clear i guess. And i think this enters just after the Cave, he find something he wasnt looking for. `But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before` the other songs talk about that broken pieces.

Uno -> I find this song very hard to understand.`If you had the chance`and `But you blew it away` this sound a little controversial. This can be some kind of Muscle Museum continuation too or a realationship ruined by her. Or the mix of the two haha

Sober -> what the fck?

Escape -> he is talking about himself, double identity:D This is a little before Muscle Museum perhaps? She was still fighting for the relationship `you would say anything, you would try anything` but he is `such a monster`

Overdue -> he got owned by her? but he know he deserves it `its about time i was paid`

Hate This and ill Love You -> I think this look like Falling Down, the `first love` think or just a love, you take a while to realize it sucks, and you are been an slave. `born to service you`. But he is getting stronger and growing.

Ok thats my `vision`, just rembering you guys...started to hearing it yesterday...I know its probably all messed up, but that is just what i think, i want to know if anyone agrees or disagrees with me and talk a little about the songs...I really LOVED all of them. Perhaps tomorrow ill buy the 2nd album. Ill go slow on this band, i wanna try to understand it correctly.

Thanks anyway, hope im not SO wrong in the interpretations :P

OBS: I know that was a shallow interpretation, but i tried not to type so much, so that at least one person would read it ashuhuasu and sorry for the badass english

@violet: really?! :cheesy: thanks!

@edplay: I can't really help you with interpretations, as they are what YOU feel the song is about. And your English is fine, don't worry at all.

Oh man, i love that...`the way I feel about` but i just wanna make sure im not being a fool...know what i mean?

Uno rules *-* peace.

Hope the other albuns are as good as the first, or perhaps even better. Doubt it tough.

I listened to them:

Resistance-> Origin of Symmetry-> Showbiz-> Absolution-> Black Holes and Revelations

:wacky:

For me it was: BH&R -> Absolution -> Origin -> Showbiz -> Resistance

Congratulations!

Thanks! :D

You can look here to find out the songs meaning ect. But as Christina said, you can interpret how you feel about the song. And as for Sober, I believe it's about Alcohol.

has any1 heard these before i love them

I've seen the Lady GaGa one which I found surprisingly not that bad. I'll now listen to the Coldplay one. Thanks.:wacky:

Well, at least in Muse's song, "Showbiz" shows the dark side of show busniess (e.g. "visions of greed you wallow"), so it's not really talking about them being famous or whatever. That's my interpretation, anyway.

At any rate, you really shouldn't take band lyrics TOO literally; otherwise, the song loses that special meaning. Also, the only people who truly know what the songs represent are the band/artist who writes them, so everyone could be entirely wrong in their interpretations.

Hopefully, this all made sense.

@violet: really?! :cheesy: thanks!

Yes, and you're welcome. :nice:

Given that I view "Showbiz" to be Muse's "worst" album, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's not that "Showbiz" is bad, so much as at the time of that album, Muse was still really raw as a band. They didn't have too developed of a sound.
