March 6, 201214 yr Hi everyone! First of all sorry for my bad english... Ok, well, a long time ago i saw this self-painted guitar of Chris Martin for the first time at a live preformance: When i first saw this guitar i thought: "I want to have it!" haha. So i searched for it on the internet but i couldn't find it so i decided to make my own one and bought a acoustic guitar at a thrift store. After a couple of days of sanding and painting this is what i got: This is my first paint job on a guitar and i made it a little different from the real one, but i hope you guys like it! :)
March 7, 201214 yr That looks amazing! I want to do this next year (I'm taking guitar class, so I need a carry around acoustic). How do you do it? Do you need to sand the guitar first or can you just paint/spray paint it (I may also add glow in the dark spray paint like Guy's bass in the CB video to mine).
March 7, 201214 yr have a look at this guys, my own design. - rubbed down - 4 coats of white primer, rubbed down with 240 grade after each coat - sprayed with 200ml spray cans - stencils made for all the graphics I have since started going over the graphics with glow in the dark pens, so we'd be "glowing, in the daaarrrkkkkkk" Let me know what you think!
March 8, 201214 yr Wow! That looks freaking amazing. I do know how to play guitar (I've been using a borrowed one of the time being) but I sort of want to buy my soon. I'm right in thinking these painted guitars can only be decorative, right? Everything I've ever read about acoustics says you can't paint 'em without ruining the sound. Although now that I think about it Chris probably uses an acoustic electric so he can mess about with it all he wants and it probably won't ruin it

During all of this i just came up with loads of ideas of designs/copies etc. i still want to do somethin on the back in the middle of the mx symbols. all my images wer down with cut out templetes i made and blue tacked on, sprayed and then took off. heres a pic during the early stages: and one with the mx templetes ready for spraying:
