Is this for real?!

Featured Replies

It does sound like Chris, but it's a really bad song.. Like most people said it doesn't sounds like Coldplay.

The start really reminds me of a Radiohead song.. But I can't remember which one.

Edit: it kind of reminds me about Idioteque.

Is there any chance you could scan Chris's diary? I couldn't find it anywhere, and I don't want to buy the popup just because of that... Pretty please?)

I am sorry, I already tryed it but the words are too small printed and it's quite impossible to read something if scanned (it gets all 'dotted').

Well, I didn't find anything with these lyrics, or even "The Shine". All I could see it's this song is not Car Kids...

"Car Kids - Real strings

Less in third verse

Add synths back is imho(?) organic

Weirties drums

Too Much Drums out C3? (My commentary: This song only have 2 choruses, not 3)

Start will 'clumsy' Fill

Add tambo?

Drums too clean | not together enough

Make it classical heavy

Mylo Landscape"

Before Coldplay said that the next single was Paradise no-one had even heard anything of the song) there were a lot of guesses, sex and violence, tomorrow etc. but they were wrong. Unfortunately, there is a whole world of great Coldplay songs that we have never heard and probably never will.)

Yeah I know it makes me want to cry that we will never hear them, I will never get to hear the full version of 'Fall Of Man' that sounded like it could have been one of my favourites :(

^ Fall of man could have been a great song.

Well done for having a look for references, I think we can probably say that this is most likely not a Coldplay song, maybe one day we will find out the truth to this mystery.

Since I guess we can't find anything more useful, my last bet is:

FAKE

Yep I agree with you on this due to the lack of information it just doesn't add up. Like I said before only time can tell if we will ever find out. For now it's just another Mylo Xyloto mystery.

FAKE

(well made though)

If nothing came out from the pop-up book, then I guess it is probably fake, indeed.

It's just a damn shame that it is with such a bad quality! The song is seriously distorted. Perhaps to make it sound more 'real' or to cover up that this is not Chris singing or because someone secretly recorded it by phone while Coldplay was rehersing? Who knows ...

I really don't think that's it. It's just the style of music the song is. If we ever get a recorded version I think it would be exactly the same.

In don't think it's not being in the book proves it's fake. We know they've already started a few tracks (according to R42) post MX. This could be a post MX song, or at least from after the notes in the pop up book were collected. I'm not saying it's not fake - it may very well be - I just don't want to discredit it quite yet, as I'd rather look more into it so the mystery doesn't last forever.

lol guys this is clearly not coldplay i don't understand why you're even tryin to figure out if it is!

yeah fall of man would have been incredible. same goes with bloodless revolution

Agreed. Someone made a song and posted in on Youtube. Called it 'Coldplay', got attention. Mystery solved. It's none of the band members singing, nothing in this song sounds like Coldplay.

If I remember correctly, those were really obvious fakes. This one, though not sounding like Coldplay, sounds well done to me.

As for the Oracle...I think we should ask! I've asked about Famous Old Painters, A View From Above on YouTube. So far - none of the questions I had have been answered - which kinda proves they are real. I think if this one is fake, the Oracle will definitely say something. If she (he?) doesn't - well, there you go. the only thing is, a lot of coldplayers should ask, cause I have a feeling some emails just turn up in the spambox, never to be read...

I agree

I submitted my question today. Hopefully she'll be able to answer on Monday if in fact it's a fake.

Not wanting to spam the Oracle or anything, but I think a few other people should message her about this too so that she knows it's spreading around on the internet.

exactly!

she doesnt seem to be answering any interesting questions lately

Well, the chorus is nice!

sounds like a bad rip-off from a song, like HLH whitout chris' leadvoice, but with the electronic voice in the background, but i thing it's fake.

Hmmm... What to think of this, I don't know if it's real or not (as does everyone else haha)

At some parts it sounds like Chris, at some parts it doesn't.. Like the "Flash" part (I think it's flash) does not sound like Chris. Interesting song though! I just hope that some new material will be released.

Actually, I still think it COULD be real. Not saying it is, but given that the guys wrote like 600 songs or whatever it was, and even with the 60 minutes piano markings and the notebook and all that we still only have about 50, there's plenty of scope for others in various states of completion. This could have just been something that dropped off very early in the development of the album but late in the development of the song itself... most likely dropped BECAUSE it's mostly electronic and only Chris features. If it is actually real, that is.

Yes  , I thought it was like a "warm-up song" to be dropped to get the feel of what they were gonna do for the MX era. And who said they couldn't sound like this? I remember when everyone bitched about how Coldplay wasn't "the same" anymore because they went more electronic on the album. Positivity people!!! Let them explore!! >:/

This.

If your not exploring, then your not reaching new found heights.

If it turns out to be some local band, i would think it's pretty decent. However, if it turns out to be Coldplay, i would really really like it just because of the sole fact that it takes that experimental step without crossing the line of shallowness or being too poppy. It's almost the same thing as Gotye. I really respect him and his music because he doesn't have one sound that he duplicates 10, 11, 12 times on an album. His stuff is really experimental and he's not afraid to try anything. :)

FLASH! FLASH! quite catchy.. But I guess it's not Coldplay, even though I kinda hope it were. I want some new material soon :)
