What guitar is Chris using?

Featured Replies

Is he still using the Gibson Blues King on this tour?

No, he used a Gibson during the Viva tour. I can try and find out, but I do know he's using a Martin and it's a Dreadnought. Could be a Martin D15M?

yep he using a Martin D-15M (with built-in pickup and custom made external preamp)

btw "M" stand for mahogany. the top(usually spruce on others), back&sides and the neck built from this wood.

the guitar costs around 1500$us, much less than the standard D-18 or 28. its a people's guitar :)

Yeah, Chris seems to use at least two D15-M's, one for the Yellow / Shiver tuning, and one for Us Against The World. It always amuses me watching him throw the guitars on the ground, as they seem to feel onstage guitar stands would be cluttery / redundant :P

After hearing it in action last year at Splendour in the Grass I went and tried out (after extensive trouble tracking them down, they are becoming rarer because of the all mahogany build) a few of the different models. Settled on the 000-15M, which packs almost as much tone and is a bit smaller. Playing through UATW on it is absolute bliss, it has persuaded me to cover the song with my band! (we are not a covers act)
