Bit of an odd question, but does anyone on here smoke?

^ Well you are a Coldplay fan, of course you can't be cool, but you smoke so I guess you're one of the few who have a small chance to try...

See the above photograph to see how 'cool' a smoker looks.

(Again, I am, in no way whatsoever, cool)

I do feel cool when I have a cigarette in my mouth whilst drunk though. But then I feel generally cooler when drunk. I'm not, however, on both counts.

hahahahah! You hero <3

I've tried, and failed. Now I'm just a sad Coldplay fan that is addicted to cancer sticks

Cellar Bar was brilliant! I miss the old bird <3

Liquid is still going, I'm going down on Saturday for a mates night out - its a dingy little cesspit, but its my friends birthday, so what can I do? Darwen has a good night life though, Bridgewater then Marigolds :)

Never been out in Darwen. Had a crush on a girl from there back in the day so always wanted to go. But that was quite a few years ago now and she doesn't even live there any more. And I have a girlfriend so wouldn't be bothered about going out there for the reason of bumping into that girl anyway.

Who was the girl? I might have know her (Darwen is a pretty small place after all).

I'll PM you haha.

I've never tried to smoke, never even touched a cigarette and am not planning to. It completely disgusts me to just touch one even when I'm drunk.

My father smoked for quite some time while I was younger though. Of course he had to do it outside because my mother doesn't like smoking either. Anyway, my father quit a while ago. My brother started smoking as well. He had to do it outside too and because my father was feeling like he didn't connect to my brother as good as he should, he was having a cigarette with my brother outside from time to time over the course of maybe a month. Then he had a heart attack.

In his discharge papers from the hospital "the abuse of nicotine" was noted. Until this day my father still claims he doesn't understand how the doctors could've put that in there.

My brother still smokes until this day and says he would never quit because he enjoys it too much. Let's just say the men in my family are giving me the motivation to never even try it out of curiosity.

I know I'm already beginning to write more than was actually asked for in this topic but what also makes it hard for me to understand the habit of smoking are the costs. I bet my brother spends as much as 50€ a month for cigarettes. I know others spend more. My brother is a student, lives at home and doesn't have a job on the side. It just boggles my mind how on earth he could spend so much money on something that is a hobby at best.

Lost several people in my family to lung cancer, and my sister looks 20 years older than she really is because of her smoking habit. Not gonna even try it once

I've never paid for one. Mary J on the other hand... It's a good thinking tool used correctly.

Not going to lie, I squealed when I saw my notification saying "Coldplay replied to your thread".

Haha, sorry to have such a dissapointing reply.

I am the real Coldplay though. Just so you know.

My mom smokes, me and my siblings have been trying to get her to stop for years but she hasn't. I really want her to quit very badly, but unfortunately I can't be the one to make that decision for her and she has to be the one to do it. I can only imagine how addictive it must be.

You have no idea how much I want that to be true. <3

Yeah, I think at some point you're also doing more harm with trying to get someone to stop. I know that my brother reacts in a pretty aggressive way when we confront him about his smoking habit. It's more like it's encouraging him to smoke even more.

He knows the facts, the will to stop has to come from himself now.

Same here, lost my granddad to it. My mum was only 19, it'd be a kick in the teeth for me or my sister to start.

I am getting really good at rolling though; I'm on a quest to be the best person to take on a night out. I stay sober and I'm good at getting my mates with girls, so if I can roll the perfect cigarette for a drunk person, I'm at least halfway there surely.

My dad used to smoke a lot ages ago, but when he met my mum she kinda forced him to stop. I'm glad she did otherwise I don't know what would have happened... He never smoked at all while I was growing up (as far as I know) and I was always told "smoking is bad, don't smoke" etc. No one in my family smokes, and I have never lost anyone to lung cancer (which I am thankful for), and none of my friends smoke so I've never had any peer pressure to do it. So smoking's always been sort of this alien concept that I would never even consider doing.

I have friends who smoke but they've never offered me and I've never asked for it, I don't know, sometimes it seems they do it just to be "cool"...

I don't smoke. Never cared to try it, for multiple reasons (bad for you, makes you smell bad, expensive, fear of getting hooked, etc.). My mom smoked when I was younger, I begged her to quit. She was a nurse so she knew better; but that's the power of addiction. It wasn't until after my grandfather died of health issues related to smoking (he was a chimney), that she finally got up the gumption to quit. She made my grandmother quit too. After my mom quit, we cleaned off the walls inside the house and omg holy crap it was disgusting. Imagine what ended up in her/our lungs!!!

why are all coldplay fans considered saints?

I've never smoked and not going to. It's horrible for your health and I lost too many people from smoking. When I was just a little kid I lost my great uncle who had a heart attack from smoking too much. And my great aunt passed away with lung cancer from second hand smoke - her husband used to smoke a lot. My grandpa had kidney problems and smoking probably made his health conditions worse- he also passed away sadly before even seeing his grandchildren... My uncle started smoking at a very young age; now he's in his middle ages and still struggling to quit... Next year my college is banning smoking on campus – I'm very curious how is this going to help while many people are against the ban.

I love how this has become a 'Practice saying no to cigarettes/describe your family history' thread.

^ Yes, the first 2 pages were funny, now things got a bit depressing.

I've smoked one cigarette in my lifetime and I'm never going there again

I personaly don't see the appeal
