I don't like math/maths, do you?

Featured Replies

I seriously do not like math, maths for the people who say it like that, right now and I want to know, do you also (not like it)?

Use this thread as like, I dunno, a math-related stress relief thread, for lack of better words.

we all know what I'm going to say here

I  maths!

I strongly dislike math. I've taken the same math class twice, so far, in college. I failed it the first semester and dropped out the second semester. I'll just wait and take it later.

Managed to get a minor in mathematics beyond all possibility

i really like statistics but i fucking hate algebra

Why do so many people hate algebra? :(

Oh, I see! Haha! I guess that makes sense.

I love maths! Especially algebra.

Managed to get an A in maths and B in further maths at a-level.

Found some old textbooks and it goes over my head now.

Basic maths good, advanced not-so-good if you don't need it everyday

i love algebra but then i fail my tests and i hate algebra, but my teacher always puts 2 or 3 extra point for participating so its like i get an average grade when really its 5

I majored in it and my work revolves around it so yeah I like it.

Very much disliked the Proofs class though. UGH.

^ proofs. NO PLEASE. My algebra teacher just goes on and on and on and on and on and on about proofs and how people in the real math world use it. He even forces us to make some sort of like, I dunno, mini-proof to show our work.

Then he says "It doesn't matter how you get to the answer, just as long as it's right."

I like maths but I hate logic

So the logic is twisted.

So very sorry.

Aghhh, proofs. Geometry is heavily proofs based, to me it's barely math at all and just memorizing lists of things monotonously, so yeah I failed at that. I don't think all those theories are actually useful later on in studying math, I'm in trigonometry/pre-calculus and I'm doing well enough after forgetting every "side-angle-side" theory etc. . But you do need to know the angles and sides of special triangles, that kinda stuff is crucial.

Math is fun though! At least to me it is. It's a very satisfying feeling to 'figure out' a concept after putting in all that effort to work it out.

Now there's a different type of math that doesn't involve plugging in stuff and solving things a certain way, theoretical math. But I haven't learned it. Yet.

I used to love and be somewhat talented at math, but then one day precal happened and I am somehow incapable of getting it and now nope

^^ What does that mean, 'decision math'? :surprised:

Math in general is useful to know. I mean some parts of it might not be as used in 'the real world', and you don't have to love it, but just keep trying, you shouldn't not educate yourself on something because it's not fun to do.

Jfc the amount of people in my classes who don't even try to look at the board in math class, play with their phone, and say "WHEN WILL ANY OF THIS BE USEFUL WHEN I GET OLDER ?!?!?!!?" It's like, fine then, just stop taking math. English too, you've learned a great amount of English already by the age of twelve or so. Don't even go to history, because your job won't involve knowing the history of the human race, nor will it involve knowing what happens when you mix an acid and a base together. "What's the point" of educating yourself and being a well-rounded person, y'know.

/small rant

I got an a in precalc... So easy... Then I got to calc I, and I got my iPod around the same time, so I would spend the class talking to people, and stopped paying attention... So I got a D :S
