Guess coldplay song

Featured Replies

Yes, in our solar system ! And as an amateur astronomer I take that line of Lady Gaga's as an insult !:D

I am an amateur astronomer myself :) Matter of fact I made it one year study at uni before I changed major to physics, but I digress haha

I hardly think Uranus will be offended LOL But yes an unfortunate rhyme haha

ok, even if I guessed/googled myself to the right planet, I would then have to "guess" the live song in question in order to check the first four notes. I am lucky generally, but I doubt I can be that lucky LOL

How do you know what Uranus really thinks, we've never visited him :D

OK, with one year of uni studies you must be way beyond my astronomy knowledge. I am more of an interested layperson, even though I did take one voluntary astronomy course at uni once.

Well, as for the Coldplay song, I don't know. Maybe you hear that classical four-note melody and it will immediately remind you of the live song (if you have heard it before, which surely many Coldplay fans have !)

I dont care much about the rhyming of Lady Gaga, I cant imagine a planet would either hehe It knows its cool ;)

Hmm I´ll give it a go anyway then :) But I have to guess the planet first haha...I´ll just throw it out there: Venus?

Hm, I didn't mean to reply to planet guesses unless there is a reasoning behind them (otherwise, by elimination, this will get boring soon). So here is a tip: Why don't you take a good look at which planets have had classical music pieses written to their name ? :)

I have. I only googled myself to a planetary suite apparently featuring all planets LOL I´ll try and dig deeper tomorrow then. Google was not my friend this evening :) hehe

I'm back... Quite lost

It's I ran away's turn. This is her riddle...

OK, now astronomy has gotten me to think out a really convoluted riddle. It may take a while or take combined efforts to guess it. Unless you guess it right away because you know what I'm talking about, but hopefully not. IF YOU KNOW STRAIGHT AWAY WHAT THE ANSWER IS (FOR EXAMPLE BECAUSE YOU HAVE SEEN ME POST ABOUT THIS HERE ONCE SOME TIME AGO) PLEASE DON'T GIVE IT AWAY IMMEDIATELY. You can send me a PM and I will acknowledge you if you were the first to guess) This type of riddle may be unusual for this thread but I hope you will have fun on your journey to discovery :D

1. Start with a planet.

2. There is a short piece of classical music named after that planet. Listen to its second half closely. You will find a bell-like sounding melody in it, comprised of 4 notes.

3. There is a live recording of a Coldplay song in its early form in which the main riff is comprised of exactly these four notes. The riff has subsequently been modified on the studio version and does not correspond to that classical melody any more. Tell me the name of that Coldplay song.

I wonder whether it is related to Mozart's Jupiter Symphony

Thanks!

Yeah I don't know I listened to it but it doesn't have any bells in the second half, at least in the version I listened to

@gentleparachute: No....Read through the previous posts, Jedi Leo may have been on the right track ;)

Okay wait I think I know which song your talking about

I think the real problem is which planet though ahaha

Yeah that was my predicament too haha I guess I'll have to listen to all the tracks at the time indicated by the riddle maker :)

OK, I will give you a hint: Yes, the melody is hidden in one of the pieces of The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst. It is not Mars or Mercury.

Other than that, I can only encourage you to listen to the individual tracks of this suite (they can all be found on YT). It is amazing and I can assure you the 30-35 mins of your life that it will take will totally be worth it since this is amazing music !

I listened 32 minutes but I was just following the music and forgot about checking the bells :mad: *lol*

I hope you liked the music then ! The melody is in the second half of one of the tracks. As stated before, it is not exactly bells but sounds like bell-chiming and consists of four notes repeated over and over.

"it was awright..." (for some reason I got Noel´s voice in my head as this sentence came to mind) LOL

So its repeated over and over again? Ok maybe that will help narrowing it down.

Viva la Vida?

Nope. Have you come in new to this round ? If so, yo may wanna read through the previous posts - this riddle is a bit more convoluted and complicated than normal. :)

And "I ran away" won't accept guesses, only well thought out educated deductions :) Hehe

Its a great riddle! Not sure I can have the time to re listen to the whole suite tonight. Maybe someone else will come with the solution in the meantime :)
