Coldplay Concerts are way to huge?

Featured Replies

The Mylo Xyloto Tour hast been great. I mean could you imagine anything so big???

It's great that there are so Bug concerts so more people can see this incredible thing...

But I miss the old times....

Why aren't there more gigs like The acoustic session from japan?

And not to forget the small concerts like the exclusiv concert in a fans backyard?

I would die to see Coldplay doing such a gig....

Regardless of intimate gigs they may play, their concerts are only going to grow. With each album, Coldplay will continue to get more popular (until they slowly fade out, or whatever may happen to them!) with each new album.

But I think they still do the small concerts from time to time.

Coldplay are the 'biggest band in the world' so obviously their concerts need to be huge to support that reputation. And it's not like they don't do small intimate gigs anymore. Remember UEA, or Dingwalls?

They do occasionally do a small gig, but as said ^, Coldplay are the biggest band in the world, with millions of fans, if they did smaller concerts all the time, less people would get to experience, what was for me, the greatest concert ever. :)

this doesn't count???

For the huge band they are, I think the amount of small gigs they do is at least correct :)

I hope they'll still do as many in the future, and obviously it would be so dreamy if I could ever attend one of those very small concerts, but as it was said above, we just have to understand that they're really huge and therefore most of their concerts have to take place in huge venues as well.

Had they come to Paris to only do a small gig, I probably wouldn't have been able to go see them and Chris would have never looked at me

But I definitely understand your frustration!

I think it's good that they don't do so many small concerts and just a few each tour, it kinda makes it more enjoyable to go to one of their intimate gigs, more special I guess you can say. Kind of the reason why I always try to go to bands' concerts before they get massive, really get to know where they're coming from before they explode in the media.

They still do small shows. Here are just a few in the last year and a half.

They've just done two small shows in Sydney??

Yes I know but you know they were just "like" the other concerts... I mean something like an acoustic session or something... There are of course small concerts, like for example when they visit a radio show, but imagine the 121212 would have been played by the entire band and not only by chris and moreover not only 3 songs.... I really liked the gig you know because chris made special versions of his songs (even if I think that VLV would have sounded better on piano and UATW better with guitar haha)

They do small concerts from time to time!

Hopefully they will keep glowing and playing in even bigger stadiums.

I love the stadium concert experience!

FWIW, both of the shows you refer to were actually just promo gigs, and both occured after the band's first stadium tour in the summer of 2005. In fact, it's not they're still doing similar things (like their show at UEA in 2011). They'll probably always be an arena/stadium band from now on, but they'll probably do those occasional smaller things as well. I wouldn't worry. :)

IMHO, they've now reached the rare level where they will probably be able to be a big touring act even after their recorded music becomes far less popular (like the Rolling Stones, or to a lesser extent U2.) Once you've been massive for a long time, you can keep going based on stuff you did 20 years ago.
