July 10, 201313 yr Chris Martin makes surprise appearance at the Whizz-Kidz Awards Today, Chris Martin surprised Whizz-Kidz Ambassador Conor with an award at our star-studded Kidz Unlimited Awards ceremony, held at the House of Commons! Chris, whose band Coldplay played the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Paralympics, presented Conor McKenna, 16, from Northern Ireland with the Inspirational Young Person Award. Chris Martin said: Thank you so much to Whizz-Kidz for letting me be come and be part of this very special event – in a place my dad always wanted me to work, but I never could make it! It’s an honour to present the amazing Inspirational Young Person of the Year Award to Conor McKenna. ‘Having lost so many awards you wouldn’t believe, I can tell you to be nominated in itself is amazing – so well done to everyone.’ Prime Minister David Cameron also made an appearance and a brief speech at the event. Ruth Owen OBE, Whizz-Kidz’s Chief Executive said: ‘Whizz-Kidz is honoured to have been joined by Chris Martin and the Prime Minister to celebrate young disabled people’s hard work, talent and dedication to their communities. ‘Our annual Kidz Unlimited Awards demonstrate the fantastic role models young disabled people can be for their peers and other youngsters.’ The Kidz Unlimited Awards were hosted by television presenters Rick Edwards (BBC3, Channel 4 and E4), Alex Brooker (Channel 4’s The Last Leg), and Nina Hossain (ITN), and recognised young disabled people’s achievements through the charity’s programme of clubs, camps, wheelchair skills training and work placements. July 10, 201313 yr As everyone has said it makes me so proud to be a Coldplay Fan. Majority of bands and artist release music, tour, get money, relationship issues, 5 years later all starts again. But Coldplay aren't like other bands. They make excellent music, put on killer shows, only to come back home and be so generous and caring towards charity as we all know. AROBTTH Tour, massive on Make Trade Fair (and still are). Oxfam In My Place video. The auction of the MX wall. This charity event. They even played atthe Paralympic Closing Ceremony for im oretty sure 1 pound. And so many more. And in all that they still make great music. Good work guys. Very proud!

July 12, 201313 yr This is a very nice video. :wacky: It seems to be such an amazing charity and a great cause! And yes, I'm also very proud to be a Coldplay fan, because Chris (and the rest of the band of course but mostly Chris) make us discover new charities quite regularly. To be honest, I wouldn't have known about all these causes if I hadn't heard about them through the band and also through the numerous recent photos of Chris at various charity events. And that's really great. I wish people would see how generous and lovely Chris is and change their mind about his 'haughtiness', but yeah, you'll always have to deal with stubborn and stupid people who don't admit things even when they're obvious.
