I personally don't really like the thought of it but it is certainly a possibility in the band's future. I asked one of my friends this question and he said yes they would still be a band but only if Chris wasn't the one to go, he's just to important. What do you think??

If Johnny or chris goes then coldplay has to say goodbye.

I actually don't think they would. I think they all talk so much about how the band only works because of the chemistry between them, I think that losing one of the crucial elements would tear apart the whole thing.

I hope this never happens. But if it does, I guess the band would be over.

Its so hard to imagine this, and this could happen at any time.. but I dont see themselves are gonna break up in the near future. Their chemistry and brotherhood are just too strong especially Chris who has been making almost everything work to be an amazing band. I really hope they will continue with the same members until they get old like U2 or even Rolling Stones.

There have been so many bands in history who have sworn to stay together and then had lineup changes. It would depend on the circumstances really.

 

I don't get the feeling that'll happen to Coldplay anytime soon.

It would be good if they were like family like the bee gees they never broke up just old tired and put up with each other lol..

I would be surprised if they did continue without one member. Guy and Will would seem to be the "expendable" members at first glance, but they're very much integrated into the overall band structure. (much moreso than the rhythm section with most bands.) I just don't see them making a go of it without all members.

The Rolling Stones have had numerous line up changes though. (though the most recent "new" member is Ron Wood and he's been in since the 70's.)
