Agree with most of your suggestions, though I still don't quite hear the word right. I definitely hear a 'r', but that could be due to the word are right before it. Updated the OP.

On the sheet they actually wrote the lyric wrong lol [ATTACH=full]3391[/ATTACH] didn't hear that "golden and blue" lol

Oh yeah I noticed this in several places, where its written one thing and he sings another *lol* Probably the lyrics we see are handwritten earlier drafts? Still I wish they were more accurate.

 

And tanzaku star..that got me wondering too haha But I think it just means colourful paper stars?

Oh!so it's not a particular Japanese thing

Haha so careless chris!or maybe they're lyrics chris preferrer,for us to discover;)

Could the song be telling the story of falling in love, with all the promises you make followed by the bitterness of falling out of love (My army of one is gonna call it through)?

I think that sometimes people mishear lyrics and then the songwriters like the misheard version even more.

 

I'm going to upset people but I'm convinced that the lyrics in the original version of Sparks say "Oh Someone you know....." and not "sing one we know".

 

Now that's going back some! ;)

All I know is James Corden was spot on when he sang "A few cherished little bells are ringing".

Just wanted to say this song only recently grew on me. I think bc we are in a CP drought.
