1. Getting the package open

 

 

As you can see from the picture I posted previously, this package was HUGE! the outer layer was thick plastic, then bubble wrap wrapped around about twenty times, thin paper, thin cardboard and MORE BUBBLE WRAP.

Hi all,

I just wanted to give you a brief update on this. A friend of mine picked it up for me so it is now in safe hands. Unfortunately the shipping costs for a package of this size and weight from the US to Europe are really high, so at the moment it is kind of stranded there. There is a fair chance I might be back for a brief stay in the US in January 2017 anyway, so at the moment the plan is to take it with me then. We decided not to open the package because it is best protected for transportation the way it is now, so I have no idea what the artwork motif will be, and I'm afraid you guys also have to wait for a picture until January. Sorry about that !

But I am really looking forward to it :) and I know that one day, it will find its way home, where it wanted to go ! ;)

Probably the best thing to do because it is not only expensive to ship but you probably have to get it past customs too.

Maybe have to pay taxes to import it. Or did they add a declaration that it is a gift?

I haven't even thought about customs (the shipping itself is quite expensive)...no idea if there is a gift declaration. I will for sure declare it as a gift, because what else could it be ? I didn't purchase it and I wouldn't even know what the "value" of this is from a tax perspective.

Good point ! There actually should be something stuck to its outside, because it has already passed international borders once...

Just got reminded I still need to update this thread ! Already posted it in Random Coldplay thoughts, but here it is in the proper thread.

In the end due to the huge dimensions there was no other way to transfer it across the Atlantic ocean than having it shipped by post. Unfortunately very expensive, but then on a mid-December afternoon after a very stressful day with a difficult exam I came home to find this....

I'm still so grateful to this thread without which I'd never have seen those sweepstakes and still amazed that this is really here. Never won anything meaningful in my life before. Now even when the skies are grey, there is a rising sun shining in my home ! :)

 

Also, when I first saw the video I immediately fell in love with the Amazing Day design, it was my favorite design of all three. So it was awesome to discover that throguh incredible luck, this is exactly the one I got !
