  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Speaking of Snow Patrol, I want to do a music video for "Same" as a video project for my class at school. Any ideas? I literally am drawing a blank.

Hmm...I can't think of any ideas now, but with time I'll whip up something.

I really want to go to the September 9th show at the Electric Factory in Philly, but I need to buy the tickets...and find someone to go with! I have no one to go to Snow Patrol with!

wooooooo the second Single is out, and they couldnt choose a better song than Chasing cars. i adore this song and i think its the best in the album, there's 2 versions the UK one and the USA one. which do u prefer? UK for me

i love the song if i were you if i just lie with would you lie with me ,omg!

I agree its an amazing song, but I think my two faves on the album would be "you could be happy" and "make this go on forever" - the other day I listened to make this go on forever like four or five times in a row, lol, I do want to make the chorus go on forever!!

Snow Patrol | Meadowbank Stadium

THANKS to an ability to comfortably go from rousing stadium rock to hook-infested indie anthems, Snow Patrol are subject to much derision from scenesters: namely, that they're just another band in the Coldplay/Travis/Keane vein.

Popularity, of course, breeds contempt. But while the much-maligned indie ensemble lay no claim to being the most experimental band, the fact 20,000 fans flocked to see them on Friday suggests they must be doing something right.

Snow Patrol, then, are good at what they do. After all, three Top 10 singles, more than two million albums sales, and a prestigious Ivor Novello Award is not to be sniffed at.

By any measure you care to make, Snow Patrol - having gone from no-selling indie workhorses to million-selling mainstream thoroughbreds - have become massive.

The band's Belfast-born lead singer Gary Lightbody admitted at the start of the gig that this was their "biggest gig in Scotland by a mile," and the upbeat Irishman seemed genuinely thrilled to be there.

They kicked off with rousing renditions of Spitting Games and Wow, before the introspective Chocolate completed a trident of opening numbers from third album Final Straw.

Next came an airing of It's Beginning To Get To Me, which Lightbody dedicated to "anyone who ever saw us playing in the Cas Rock," before the crowd-pleasing Headlights on Dark Roads and another "wee quiet song," Grazed Knees.

A genuinely touching moment came when Lightbody dedicated Chasing Cars to his father Jack, who was visibly beaming with pride from the sidelines.

"I don't quite know how to say how I feel," sang Lightbody Jnr, "those three words are said too much, they are not enough."

Next was Shut Your Eyes - dedicated to "the brilliant Hazey Janes", thanking the Dundee band for opening the show - before an interesting turn when the band performed An Olive Grove Facing The Sea, a rarely played old song from the band's second album.

Support band number two, the excellent Elbow, were not to be spared Lightbody's gratitude either - the singer dedicating Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking to frontman Guy Garvey, "who has the most amazing voice in the world ... the b*****d."

Like Muse before them, Snow Patrol suffered from the fact the spectre of the mighty Radiohead still looms large over Meadowbank following their midweek spectacular at the venue just days before.

But while Snow Patrol are obviously no match for the Oxford outfit, they did, at least, manage moments of magic themselves - the insanely-catchy Run and the climatic Open Your Eyes sending the crowd wild.

Certainly, all this adulation is a far cry from the early days, when the hard-up band used to pretend to be members of a certain group of twee-popsters in order to gain free entry to the Student Union club at Glasgow School of Art.

WEEEEEEE only a few more weeks for Snow Patrol in Michigan!

^ yes only a few weeks til theyre in NYC. i can hardly contain myself! :D :D :D

ISn't it great? I mean I keep seeing "Chasing Cars" on Vh1 all the time and I'm like holy crap I'm seeing them, that FACE, sooon. And it better be up close too. Well it willl be...... I plan for the front too!!!

i hope i can make it early to be in front.. i wonder if nathan remembers agreeing to wave to me in his half drunken state.. lol

Does anyone can give me "How to be dead" lyrics. thanks a lot.
