so i guess Yom Kippur = day or 'kippur', which i don't know the meaning of either! lol

 

 

actually, in Urdu, which is a language similar to Hindi--the one i do know, they use a similar word... Yaum and i guess now i know what they mean by

 

Yaum i jashn-e-azadi

 

(day of freedom celebration...)

its interesting, many religions/languages are much more simliar than one would think.

yep yep...indeedy!

 

Urdu sorta is a mix of Hindi and Farsi/Arabic. And so I guess it's kinda Semitic...

 

not to mention that Hindi itself comes from Sanskrit and Sanskrit is like the mother of all Indo-European languages! :cool:
