I have recently rekindled my love affair with Mogwai. Most loud guitar rock bores me to death these days, but Mogwai can rock me pretty hard. And their best stuff (in my opinion) is the more quiet, understated stuff from their last couple albums. They're one of the few bands around today that can do both brilliantly. :D

I like a few of their songs.

Sigur Ros fans tend to like them. They are really good indeed :)

Yep Mogwai are good, a great chill out then freak out band that just get better and better the BBC commissions album is their latest and damn good it is too! :)

Has anyone heard the new Mogwai Album Mr. Monster?

 

I heard it is quite good, but it isn't supposed to be out til March.

Its called Mr Beast, and yes, its the best thing they've ever recorded.

like all mogwai albums for me, the first impression was spectacular. It grew dull on me after the 5th or 6th listen though. I do think 'Friend of the Night' is one of the best things they've ever recorded. And a few of the tracks are a bit heavier than on previous albums.

okay, two weeks after my previous post I have completely changed my mind. To me, this is by far the best thing mogwai have ever recorded. Infact, its probably the best thing i've heard this year. It'd be my album of the year...save for the fact that it doesn't actually get released until 2006.
