Seniors, show up Please

Doogie said once that the older you get, the less idealistic you became and you start to be more responsable, because you get into the "Real World", as he called it.

Is that true? Most of you live alone, or almost, and are studying in Uniersity, have jobs or have finished Uni already.

am I the only one who thinks that dreams make the world go around? Ideas and hopes go along with dreams too, so do they start to vanish, or he just scared for no reason?

It's nearly the frst time I want to get a response, and I'm not getting any!

That's how it works

I've catalogue as Senior to everyone at age 18 and above

If you're considering me a "senior," then what I have to say is this: I don't think anybody really "loses" their dreams, but reality has a way of weighing them down, and it seems tough to make them a priority when there's so much pressure from all sides to make money and be responsible, or whatever it might be. I recall the words printed on the disc of A Silver Mt. Zion's first album: "Destroy all dreamers with debt and depression." It's depressing, but that seems to be how it works. :/

And I'm only 20 years old, imagine me when I actually have more than a year or two of "real life experience."

the stark truth of life kicks in somewhere around the mid 20's

before that you work to live

after that you live to work

:stunned:

When you start having to get through life by your own means and leave the family nest, then often the dreams you have are put on the back burner as real life takes it's priority...working to pay bills, finding accomodation, rent/mortgage. a car, etc.

Atm I'm working to live :)

dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeams are my realityyyyy

the only kind of real fantasyyyyyyyyyyyy

illusions are acommon thing

I try to live in dreams

it seems as if its meant to beeeeeeeee

am I the only one who thinks that dreams make the world go around?

yes

i'm 24 .... does it mean that i'm senior??????????????? :/ :/ :/

well, i think the older we get, we are suposed to adapt our dreams to the real world. when i was yonger i use to think that i could change the world and live by myself. i also use to think that i could reach any dream but...... sometimes, we must realize that we live in a society and what you want its not what everybody wants........ and believe me, living in a society its not so easy as it looks when we are teenager, specially if you live in a country where there are a lot of corruption and burocracy as BR....

Sternly, Yeah it's right!!! you begin to live hard situations and you need have cold head for solve these problems!

adjusts doogie's mantra to...

*and working some of the time to live*

There seems to be a concensus, so you might be right. Thought my father tells me that I just have to keep dreaming and working even harder than I do (believe or not, I do work, but it's not a payed job, not that it matters much though). He's a dreamer, a lot more than me, on the other hand, my mother sounds just like you. All of you

I haven't even reached the part of work to live, so anyway, I shouldn't worry very much  :D

tell me about it... Carla! after I read "El mundo de Sofia"...try to be more naive!...and I don´t mean being a "silly girl"...like I told you before...I wish I could never stop to dream even when I´m awake...is so wonderful think about everyhting and about nothing!

...of course the responsability grows when you past 20´s...I´m 21...graduate...working in a big company...and the future is now yours...and the biggest things above all is to know which path you want to take!...and this depends of the way you want to live in the future ...being more rational...analitic...thinking with anothers expectatives!....I can´t keep being like I was 15!...you change but is a natural thing...I just realized this when I talked to my friends and we start to remember the way we were and what we have become!...and everything we have been through! I still like to do that!......but the feeling is great!...I feel wonderful with all the things I have and how I am and what I have in mind!... ;)
